That would have had to happen a few years ago now i reckon... Hopefully we get a few this year, although it won't help me get a kick.

Yeah your right i must have a good Memory, it must of been a few years back now. Youve got to believe in yourself gerta if you want a kick (but no one will get a kick against newbridge because they will be too good LOL :p )and a few goals maybe? it will come.

Yeah it would come in handy if there was a few wet saturdays this year:confused: all we can do is hope

Whom ever voted on the poll that this thread isnt worth having maybe it is because no one is writing anything on here, so everyone who looked at this poll had no great memorys from this league or they thought what a waste of time. What ever the reason, 2 minutes or so writing up something for the enjoyment of everyone else and maybe if a few people got this thread up and going everyone would like it.

I remember watching Bridgewater and Marong @ Bridgewater one day and Billy Grant hooked whom I was the believe the opposition president, putting him on his arse! Then someone else had a go at Billy and he hooked him too. Believe it was the first game of the round. Comical!

I remember that day. I don't think it was the president, just some local idiot who had been mouthing off.

I was getting stripped and looked out the door just in time to see some bloke hit the deck, with blood all over his bald head. The property steward at the time, Art Hando, also landed a few I think.

Pretty funny stuff.

yes it was half time gorgeous and i remember you and myself were enjoying the contest as well as a few fizzies when the altercation occurred directly in front of us, big art hando deliverd a massive haymaker whilst billy tore the other guy to shreds, we promptly moved to the other side of the fence as neither one of us wanted a bit of dukeage action

I also had ringside seats to this incident. Bill did educate a guy in the sweet science. If I remember correctly, Art felled the big bald bloke with an elbow to the side to the head. My favourite part was the sight of the big bald bloke screaming like a girl after Art knocked him on his arse, which was exactly what he needed.

I'll never forget Techscrew from Bridgewater, biggest Goose I've ever seen. Teammates wouldn't even kick it to him if he was 30m in the clear.

how about having Russel Jefferey as coach that would be my best memory of the loddon valley, do yourself a favour as molly would say and go and listen to the great mans speeches, i believe he still coaches the 3rds at marong he would have to be the malcolm blight of country footy with his unorthodox approach to getting the best out of players and his ability to deliver a stirring speech

Ha, old Biff. Too many quotes, from the sitting on the beams of the Broughie story to the 'Senior players take note' speach a wordsmith to be compared with Churchill.

I also enjoyed the sandwhiches you got before the game if you played ones, and the beers after the game if you played twos.

The beers after the game are still very enjoyable!

The Trent Sporn story?
Wrong sporn kid i believe it was kieran champion footballer cut down in his prime according to biff,
then there is the donkey falling down the well story and his love of his music collection especially the dandy warhols, the eels and the foo fighters, just something that you may not no about him as he told his troops

Talking about king hits does anyone remember Scott Carson from newbridge who got king hit behind play before the ball had even been bounced, granted to guy is a bit of a dill but if you are going to do it let them look you in the eye, that was dirty!

i think you'll find what happened to Carson against Calivil was merely a "square up" for something he had done previously, which was just as bad.

Carson had history of picking off blokes with his wild elbows and accurate fists.

Hey I'm all for square up's but to sink that low even if he did previously still make you just as bad, plus the guys jaw was shuttered and had to be wired that's not a square up, that's still dirty.

stick to the netball gossipgirl.

What happened to Scott Carson when he got his jaw broken was a long time coming. Ask Calivil, Mitiamo and YCW if they were disappointed when he got whacked. He has broken a players jaw from all three of those clubs.

It's hard to say that a king hit would be what I'd call a good memory , no matter which rabbit gets donged ! But however I do recall Shaun (pudd) McCormick after kicking several second half goals to seal victory for the superroos in a grand final and while running around the boundary high fiving the crowd he is smacked in the face with a meat pie . Very comical ! very slap stick :D:D

I haven't brought it up with Pudd but the belief is that all pies in the loddon valley are of a good scoffing temperature !

a good calivil man was the bloke who hoofed the pie at McCormick that day. Fair effort from McCormick though to kick 6 or 7 in the last quarter to basically singlehandly beat YCW.

A PETER BIRD MOMENT:

I remember watching Pyramid v Newbridge in a final a couple of years ago at YCW.

Peter's brother charged at a newbridge player who had his head down going for the ball...somehow, he managed to come off second best.

Peter saw his brother lying on the ground, and charged 150 meters up the ground to dong some guy!

I'm sure we all have a Bird moment though!

That was gold, the Pyramid hill runner kept yelling at him "you promised us you wouldn't do this, you promised us" as he was trying to get him to go to the forward pocket with his eyes spinning in his head as he wanted to kill someone.

Two weeks later in the grand final at Miti after Glen Richards went through one of the Pyramid blokes fairly he lost his $hit again and went on a rampage and possibly lost the game for Pyramid when he got sent off early in the second quarter (after bopping about 8 blokes in the first quarter).

He played one of the best halves of footy in the second half you've ever seen, pity Pyramid were 9 goals down at that stage and too far out of it

if you watched the video of the hill v cal, glen richards raised the elbow just a little bit higher then the norm, result, broken jaw, thats why bird got into richards, and he did lay a couple of good ones.

if that is the case i stand corrected, i am relying on memory and dodgy eyesight from the other side of the ground. Still i think Calivil got Peter Bird doing what they wanted and that is not worrying about getting a kick but taking scalps instead.

i think pete was the only bloke to put in 100% for 3/4 of the game, only 3/4 because he was on the side line for a 1/4. he is exciting to watch you just dont know what you will get.
