Who would you choose. If you had a choice.
Both very good athletic type players with good leaps.
Both good marks.
I'd pick Ryder, just for his compusure and the way he makes ghis decision making and his disposal is top notch to. Also for his on ground skill level is also great see Ess V Saints goal he kicked from 50m.
Also he will rarley give away a hands in the back rule because he does'nt need to use his hands thanks to his giant leap.

Ryder currently but hopefully they both develop into key players for our clubs

Setanta will be ok, but Ryder will be a star.

Ummmm a top 10 draft pick, brought up playing AFL, apprenticeship through various underage feeder systems to the AFL............ VS a project player gamble taken in the PSD who hadnt kicked a footy until he hopped off a plane 4 years ago ???
What a disgraceful poll.
Ryder by all accounts SHOULD end up 100 times better than Setanta.
Who knows by the end of their careers the gap between the two may & obviously wont be that significant.
If Setanta ends up better, does that make Ryder and all other footballers drafted via conventional terms duds ?
ps - Setanta's already a better option than a Kepler Bradley.

Why bring him up, no one has mentioned him yet because this thread is not about him.

Kepler Bradley isn't in Essendon's best 22.

I couldn't believe some of Paddy Ryders skills today... He's 6'6, and he was scooping the ball from around his ankles and taking off with it like a crumber. He's going to be a star.

Why the unfair comparison, and wtf picked the irishman?

Kepler Bradley and Setanta would of been a fairer comparrison.
Setanta easily. This guy is a brilliant talent an we have only seen glimpses of his capability. He is taller and faster than Ryder. Setanta has finally given the Blues someone who can match the gorilla forwards of the AFL.. Setanta also has ability to play ruck, wing and KP forward, but he is being kept in defence while he learns the game. His upside is just massive and progress outstanding. :)
Kepler Bradley ...
Bolton Mk2. :)

A Ryder vs Josh Kennedy poll would be interesting, 2 of the first picked KPP in the 05 draft.

Last Saturday's Blues V Dons game made me laugh. :)

Ryder still. Kennedy doesn't have the ability to play many positions that Ryder does. I rate Ryder highly, a pity he didn't slip one position lower.
I agree.

uh...both the same height, ryder also trumps him in speed, and as a defender/ruck
Sentana is 24
Ryder is 19
Also Ryder has an amazing vertical leap and gives accurate taps. Sentana's ruck work is an unknown quantity.

Yes, we watched the Dons pathetic capitulation last week. :)

Just for you: Setanta 200cm, Ryder 197cm. And Setanta is a lot faster. :)

Does not matter when ryder has a better leap and i am fair certain that he is faster.

My stats say 199cm for Setana but Ryder can still grow a few more cm in the next few years. Do you have any facts for that last claim (because Ryder is very quick for his size as demonstrated today) or do we have to go on your unbiased opinion??

Well, you just haven't seen enough of Setanta. He is fast, very fast. His leap is simply unbelievable. Setanta is an amazing athlete. His younger brother, Aisake, is even bigger and being groomed as a future ruck. :)

It's a pity you didn't draft Mitch Clark. ;)
I'm not bagging Ryder because he looks super impressive playing as a third defender and he also can ruck or go forward. But the ability to play in more positions doesn't make him a better footballer and Kennedy was a ruckman as a junior footballer.
Ryder still made one error in defence last week which led to a goal and he's still as green as Setanta after he handballed backwards to Whitnall in the pre-season.
Ryder and Setanta are both exciting athletes and talents but we need Carlos at full back more than we need Ryder. Carlos hasn't had the luxury of playing Ryder's position with Michael and Fletcher taking the big names in his first 13 games. Setanta showed a lot when he was under the pump against the Cats and he is one of the best spoilers in the AFL.
His progress is amazing .
Ryder does have the talent to be a star, but Carlos has a bigger body, the work ethic and the hardness at the man and ball to make it.
He's a mad man and one in a million. :)
 at those who listen to Parrot.

wow. im 2 cm off the mark, i conceed, Setana is obviously the better player because of the 2cm heigh advantage
how can you prove that Setana is faster then Ryder? Ryder covers a damn lot of ground, imagine if he actually put on some muscle

I don't get it. I thought this would be a good poll. I mean I havent seen a lot of him. But the way Carlton supporters talk him up he must be good.
I mean yous talk him up so much, you can't really complain. When he gets compared to a good player who has some talent you can't just go no way Ryder is better unfair poll.
Then when he gets compared to a shitter player yous all get on voting for Setanta.
I thought it would be a good comparison. Since both are really athletic. Both are good atm. But you would think Ryder has more upside. Once he puts some muscle watch out.
But those are my views I made this poll to see other peoples views.

I had to stop reading your post when I arrived at the bolded word (it is not really a word as such). I thought, for a moment, I was back in the schoolground with some of my friends, who found the English language a bit of a challenge.

This is a football forum not a english forum
Everybody knew what I meant by it, it's an internet forum for gods sake. Even the thought of making a singular post on it is ridiculous.
