What song would you have played at your own funeral? (you would not be around to hear it though...)
I was thinking a song that maybe sums up your whole life, or just a song you feel strongly about.
Mine would be Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

At my own funeral... this is a toughie.

I'd probably go with
Crowded house - Four Season in One Day or Don't Dream It's Over.
Or
Massive Attack - TearDrop

But that'd create a bit of a somber mood.
So If I wanted a bit more of an upbeat mood (as upbeat as a funeral can get) I'd Play

The Dandy Warhols - Godless & Bohemian Like you
because they're two of my favourite songs

or for humours sake

Frank Benetts Cover of "Pretend that we're Dead"
Stereophonics - Have a Nice Day
Ultra Lounge - Danke Schoen
Yello - Oh Yeah

Led Zeppelin - 'In My Time of Dying'

Great bluesy tune with some adequate slide work by Pagey. It's a bit on the long side. Of course, I dont' want a funeral proper. As far as I'm concerned, you can chop me up, stuff the pieces in a plastic kitchen bag and drop me in a land fill. However, the big wake bash my surviving friends are having should feature this particular tune. Peace,

Wish - NIN

Oasis - Don't Go Away

Argh, it looks like I'll be having Crowded House at my wedding and my funeral because I'll have to agree with you about Four seasons in one day.

Goodbye Sky Harbour - Jimmy Eat World. It's my new funeral song, it's a song quoting my favourite book, and I love the song, I love the book, so it's perfect. Except it goes a bit long.

Hands - Jewel.

most likely something by counting crows but I'm not sure what yet. Perhaps color blind, but it's so depressing (yes I realise we're talking about funeral's here)

I used to want November Rain, I've changed my mind.

I'm thinking of getting cremated so something like "Burn For You" by INXS or "I'm On Fire" by Bruce Springsteen would be quite appropriate.

"What We Had Hoped" by the Sugargliders would be my track

"Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. Although I would toy with the idea of "Don't worry: if there's a hell below, we're all gonna go" by Curtis Mayfield (Antiseen's cover of it was great).

I like Shane Macgowan's version of Danny Boy, but would probably pick A Love Supreme by John Coltrane.

Whenever I hear 'Everybody Hurts' by REM I think of my Dad, who nearly died a couple of years ago.
