Could be but dont read too much into him not doing a full session yesterday ;)

Watch out for Mr. Sheedy's last minute inclusion !
To be honest Im not too fussed.
We've still got a quality KP forward in Lucas and Johns will have an opportunity at FF to monster whatever twerp Hawthorn decide to man up on him.

Yep, me too would also give Houli/Lonergan a go.
Had to pass a fitness test to play Anzac day.
Turned up to the Bendigo v Port game sporting his MRI scans in a big envelope.
Didnt train Monday.
Didnt do any contact work at training yesterday and left the track early.
Now the lack of training isnt unusual for him during the season and he looked to be moving ok during all the other drills.
Personally i think there is a minor doubt on him.
i know there has been crap about lloyd for the last couple but he wont play and will probaly mis the kangas game as well. Not good but we should be right for those 2 games hoping johns can fire up
He'll play ;)
A lazy day in the forward pocket is all the Dons need anyway against the show pony wannabe tough hawks anyway.

Watson being dropped stinks of sheedy playing mind games, I feel he'll be the late inclusion if necessary.

I can tell you 100% that he was in doubt at 11:00am on Anzac Day and was unlikely to play at that stage - so certainly no B.S last week.

He didn't look right on ANZAC Day. Every time he went to ground he came up wincing and holding his arm/wrist.

hang on so the fact that some of you are saying lloyd definately wont play is based on the fact he didnt do full training this mourning????
thats pathetic
Looks like the OP was correct :(

Bombers lose Lloyd to hamstring injury
Jake Niall and Rohan Connolly
ESSENDON skipper Matthew Lloyd has injured a hamstring and will miss tomorrow's game against Hawthorn.
Club sources last night confirmed that Lloyd had strained the same left hamstring that kept him out of the last 19 games of 2006.
While scans were done yesterday and the injury was still being assessed, the expectation was that the hamstring problem was relatively minor, but it is still likely to keep him out for at least two matches.
Lloyd's history of having had major surgery to the hamstring in his left leg — he had an operation to repair the hamstring he tore off the bone in round three last season — means the Bombers will be conservative with their 29-year-old captain.
The club still hopes that it will prove less severe than a grade-one tear — which usually takes two to three weeks to heal — and might only be categorised as soreness.
Lloyd was last night named at full-forward, but will be replaced by Courtney Johns, who is named on the interchange bench.
It is unclear precisely when Lloyd hurt the hamstring. He took a severely corked thigh into the Anzac Day match which required treatment in a hyperbaric chamber. Although his movement was somewhat restricted, he still managed to boot three goals.
One of the Bombers' emergencies — Jobe Watson, Bachar Houli or Sam Lonergan — will come into the team. Watson and Kepler Bradley had been dropped from the team, with experienced midfielder Jason Johnson named to play his first senior game this season.
Johnson, who had a pre-season toe injury, has been in outstanding form for Bendigo Bombers in the VFL since his return. Defender Andrew Welsh returns from a hamstring strain, as does important speedster Jason Winderlich.

Why would it not suprise me if Sheedy takes the $1500 fine and brings in Gumbelton.
Ive noticed that apart from Gilham and Croad, there backline is pretty small.

I don't think we make the same mistake as we did with Collingwood and play to top heavy, bring in a running type as Hawks are full of run.

Looks like it was a bigger mistake to play him in the Anzac Day game than first thought. Now instead of being out one game we lose him effectively for 3
Slattery also barely got over the line and is now out.
Oh well... I'm confident that Johns can stand up as I have liked what I have seen from him this year. This is his chance and it's time to shine. Anything less than 4 goals will be disappointing.

Gumby did his hammy on wednesday, you wont see him for at least 4 weeks.

Actually he was passed to play at around 11am , watched him do the fitness test ;)

If he ran laps today as you suggested, then his hammy can't be anywhere near as bad as what is being reported.

Whats with the hammys lately, we had a full list at Rd 1, and everyweek someone is doing a hammy? plz explain anyone
What are we doing to fix it? Happens every year i cant believe its happening again. WHAT IS GOING ON ??
I think we can turn this into a positive. This really give Johns the opportunity to play as focal point in the goal square. I think Johns is really best suited to the goal square as when he plays down the ground, he tends to get lost at this stage. Predominantly playing from the goal square without the presence of Lloyd should be really interesting to see and will give us an opportunity to see the development of JOhns into an afl footballer. This is really a massive opportunity for the big fella

Definately could be a positive..Courtney is now FF for atleast a month id reckon so if he can kick 4 a game then that would be a very good return..Typical for Gumby to do his hammy at the same time..You have to wonder what the hell is going on with injuries..
FF: Welsh Johns Davey
HF:Lovett Lucas Monfries
We still have a very good forward structure so its all good..

No it is not , just not taking any risks at this stage of the year. When you watch him run he doesnt look like he is having any problems with it at all.

There are a couple of things here. All clubs have been getting more hammy injuries. The experts are saying it has to do with the increased fitness/speed work that all clubs are doing.
Some of ours (Winders,Cole and Lloyd) have not really been serious strains but more the fact that players have been feeling tightness so we have backed off their training immediatly rather than press on and risking a serious strain.
There is now way to fix it so to speak, it is the only injury that has been increasing across the whole AFL in recent years.

Agreed. This is where it's John's turn to put his hand up and kick a few. To me it doesn't look like a bad forward structure at all.

Yeah most teams would envy that.

Couldn't agree more- player management at Essendon ( Doc Reid Quinn et al } is a shocker. They have no idea about balancing the need to get your best player on the park, and injury recovery, player preservation. I think Hird should not have played 3 games in 11 days either. Another shocker. It makes me worry about Winderlich and Welsh now. :(
Dont blame john quinn in regards to Sheedy playing under done or injured players.
Quinn has no say in that regard as soon as Doc Reid passes them to play that is it.

And you knowing exactly what goes on behind closed doors makes you an expert
So do tell me Mr Expert , are we dealing with injuries in the same way as we have in the past ?

So, Mr. hard working Ant robus, you think Lloydy passing a fitness test makes it O.K for him to play Anzac Day? There are anecdotes about our player management post and pre- game that would make your jaw drop, for the wrong reasons.
And you get them from being "behind closed doors"
We all know things are being done differently because Sheeds is a progressive coach
By the way, you still haven't named the new guys doing the training programs and the rehab that you lauded in a previous post.

Dont put words in my mouth about LLoyd , i am on record saying he shouldnt have played but we are hardly the first club to play a star player when he was less than 100%.
So you have anecdotes we do tell ! Come on , you are always big on talking riddles but never big on backing anything up. Obviously you have heard storys from someone who was/is involved. Dont just stick your head halfway out and then run back to your hole.
As far as our high performance staff goes you can find out if you are so smart. I simply heard from a few people outside our club that one of the new guys was very highly regarded (from someone involved with the Eastern Rangers and Someone involved with Sandringham FC).
Somewhat of a double standard that you seem to want me to tell all about what i have heard but you only serve up that there are anecdotes. Yes there are i have heard some of them. I know Gary Moorcrfot has supposadly not got a lot of complimentary things to say. Have heard a few more that go way back to Max Crow and his comments on Sheeds (some of my inlaws worked with Max at Bulla).

Sorry Ant robus, I only recall you saying Lloydy was in doubt, I can't remember you saying he shouldn't play. Did you ?
Yes, Maxie Crow and Moorcroft have their opinions on Sheeds- so do Peter Somerville, Tim Watson, Greg Anderson and Jame Hird.
Incidentally, I think your hearing anecdotes about these new player management guys yourself.

As far as Lloydy goes was never in favour of him playing Anzac day.
I have always found it funny that Sommerville has had things to say about Sheedy. The man from Moe would probaly be amognst the favourites for the worst premiership ruckman ever. He should consider himself lucky that Sheedy had some sort of faith in him for as long as he did.
Well you can take it or leave it as far as the new fitness department guys go. We reviewed this area last year and added some people to it. I have heard from two different outsides sources that one of they guys is pretty smart in his field. Are you so stuck in the mud about our entire footy department that you think we could not hire anyone who is better than good in their field.

Ant robus, some nice people come from Moe- and his old man took a nasty one many years ago from the Pie filth. Who else was rucking for us at the time ? Didn't the old Somers head up to Brisbane Lions for a while?

Dont know did he go to Brisbane ? I know he played VFL for Nth Ball after he left us.
As for who was with us when he was around , well Madden and Salmon where at the start of his career and Alessio was there in the mid to latter end of his time. Big Ryno ( )would have been around in the middle somewhere and Barnes would have been early on as well before being sent to Geelong.
