Ok, we've had songs that make you cry, songs that you would fall in love with if someone you love sang them to you, now its time for the songs that cheer you up when you are down.
Ok, when you are upset about something, and it may be anything, is there any song that will just pick you back up??
For me its Brandy - Best Friend.
It always reminds me of my best friend and how much of a great friend she is and how much fun we always have when we are together. Its like, everytime i hear it a a smile instantly appears on my face, regardless of the situation.

It doesnt matter how down i am if Walkin On Sunshine comes on on the radio then i just cant stop from tapping my foot, singing and smiling!
Always picks me up that one.

I always bang on Pearl Jam Live On Two Legs or Nirvana From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah. PJ mellows me, but somehow is uplifting, while Nirvana fires me up.

I hear ya Bluecrow !
I know its just mindless pap but I can't help it - One more Time is just such an infectiously happy piece of music that I break out in a grin everytime I hear it.
and same with Freestyler - great fun and actually if you listen c;osely, its a very well constructed and brilliantly executed piece of HipHop-influenced pop.
cheers

There is one, above all others, that never fails to make me smile...... and yes it's a Beach Boys song.....
Soulful Old Man Sunshine
A charming, jazzy type song......gorgeous vocals, sensational arrangement, and yeah like I said, no matter what's going on, I ALWAYS smile when I hear it. :D
Amazingly it's only available on the 'Endless Harmony' soundtrack!!!!!!!! Such a waste.
2 songs for me:
No Rain by Blind Melon "I just want someone to say to me....oh oh oh oh... I'll always be there when you wake..."
Always With Me, Always With You by Joe Satriani Its instrumental but its got a really hopeful vibe. Its been with me since I was about 15 and it pops up in the strangest places when I am feeling low.

And agree with you Nic & FD, Bohemian Like You. It was Stephen Fleming's song during the ODI series here in January. haha.
Ahh, Stephen Fleming.
Cornershop - Brimful of Asha always has me up and dancing.
U2 Beautiful Day Same effect.
Jackson 5 - I want you back. It probably shoul be sad, but it's just not.
Michael Jackson - Wanna be Startin somethin. Has me singing and dancing within seconds. It really should be the beginning of every mix tape. I believe that.
REM - It's the end of the world as we know it (but I feel fine)
Beatles - Here comes the sun, amongst others. It's my happy song. It doesn't get me dancing, but it certainly has me smiling.
U2 - Elevation. I don't like it much, but I can't help getting up and singing it whenever it comes on.
Beach Boys - Wouldn't it be nice
There's other's I just can't think of them right now.

I just found my Utah Saints cd and that put a smile on my face so i have to say:
UTAH SAINTS - SOMETHING GOOD
Euro House at its best!!!! :D :D :D
Anything with a killer guitar solo in it, fast and furious like The Scorpions' Catch Your Train or Rainbow's Light In The Black.
Manowar also have a lot of inspirational, uplifting songs... great motivation to kick anus,
Anything by Black Grape or the Beasts of Bourbon. Makes me not care about anything!

NIN - Wish (again:) )
The first Mr Bungle album always makes me smile (Just how funky is "The Girls of Porn!!!":D )
Other than that, really fast, really heavy stuff gets me going and out of any slump.
At The Gates, Napalm Death, Testament, Cryptopsy, Coroner etc etc.
Not exactly what most would call 'happy' music, but it does the job for me!

We Are The Champions by Queen - When my team won our hockey Grand Final (never beaten in the whole season) last year after a previous season of going through undefeated and losing the granny, and we were singing it after we won. Such a great feeling, good memories although in a way a little sad. Also ...
End Of The World by R.E.M - It gets me pumped and just makes me happy!
There are others, can't think of them right now though.

Green Day - "Good Riddance, Time Of Your Life"
Hunters & Collectors - "Holly Grail"
Those 2 songs probably have the most affect on me, but when I'm down I like listening to some different music, maybe something from my childhood that my brother and I used to sing along to.... a bit of John Farnham, REM (my fav band) anything really.
Cheers!!

Tripod are damn funny. Love their morning challenges set by Adam and Will, with the best one being the Bananas in Pjamas rap.
Dandy Warhols make me feel peachy, especially Get Off. RATM never fail to fire me up, whether it be the covers album, Guerilla Radio, Bulls on parade, or of couse Killing in the Name.
White Stripes, and Jamaroqai always makes me sing, or in Jamaroqai's case, get up and dance. I never dance, but he does it...

Yep those 2 are great! Although my favourite is Bevan the Musical. Also the Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe one, and the Xmas Song. The stuff they used to do on Merrick and Rosso when they did JJJ drive was fantastic.
