View Full Version : Whats wrong with Kosi?
Hey guys,
Just wondering what you think is wrong with him. ATM hes looking completly lost and severely lacking in the agility side of his game.
I recall back in last 05 he was invincible for those last 4 or so matches. Everything he touched turned into gold.
Is it just a case of him lacking confidence? We all know what a great player he can be providing he can stay on the park for a period of time. Now i know conditions didnt suit him on the weekend but surely he should turn that around this week under a closed roof on the TD.
Just wanting some Saints supporters opinions on this.
Cheers guys:thumbsu:

Mate look at his injury list from last season and before. It is game fitness, match practise and feeling a useful part of the team again. Give him until round six, then I think we will see him start to be the player we all want him to be again. But it will take a while to reach those dizzying heights consistently.

Just trade him out of your dream team.

There is no doubt that the St Kilda forwards aren't playing to the style that Ross Lyon wants. The game plan will take awhile and so will the players. Kosi just needs time. Give him time.

Can I suggest a hypothesis: Kosi's previous injuries (back, ankle, elbow, quad) didn't really hurt his confidence. After all, with the possible exception of a back injury, all those other ones get better. But the head injury, coupled with the umpire contact for Casey 2nds, really dented his confidence, and may take a while to come back. Really he needs to get belted and get up and realise he isn't going to fall apart everytime he cops contact.

Really good game for Kosi tonight.

A bit touchy on the Kosi topic are we. He will definately have a shocker next week. Had a good game against weak oppisition tonight.
As far as your predictable dig at Richmond.... we do back up week to week (a loss with a loss)

You do NOT have a player that is capable of matching it with Kosi .
Who cares about richmond...go and spit on terry wallet
The Dream Team kiddies would have been disappointed with his performance tonight. :D
"OMFG I shouldn't have traded him..............cash cow cash cow LOL LOL"
Great game by Kosi. I've been a little disappointed with his start to the season but it's amazing just how little leeway he's been given from people outside the club. He's had a horror run with injuries. The best news for Saints fans is that he's up and running and playing regular footy. He has far too much talent and natural ability to be down for too long.
Very happy to see Kosi's stats (missed 1st 3 quarters) and hear that he played well. Hopefully he'll keep improving from here. Have loved watching him play when he is fully fit (yes I can still remember when that was :p )
yeah good game by kosi rucked well and got a bit of it around the ground, where do the saints fans see him playing the rest of season mostly in the ruck or split between ruck and forward?

When he went in the ruck early in the third quarter with Ball, Dal and I think Baker we absolutely dominated.
Is it me or does Matthew Clarke drop his taps too short?
Over the past few years every man and their dog was saying that Kosi shouldn't play in the ruck because he's more likely to get injured there.
I never bought into that because the other roles he can play are as either a centre half forward or centre half back and I don't think there's a more physical demanding role than in those positions.
I like him in the ruck. I want to see him floating around the ground with the freedom to use his mobility and athleticism to take marks around the ground and provide a strong contest in the ruck. Playing as a key forward is too restrictive.

i would love to see kosi as a permanent ruckmen... i think he does a good job there and he has great mobility for a big man so i think he could be the dean cox type ruckman the saints need..
keep him in the centre instead of the forward line.
He's more of an old-fashioned follower than a ruckman. Only OK at the tap, a bit short these days for a top class ruckman, especially in the centre circle contests, but his mobility and marking make him a terrific follower.
At the moment he, like so many others, is plugging holes due to personnel shortage. When we get a few back it'll be interesting to see just where he fits in.

Kosi finally seems to be geting back into some fitness and form. He did a very good job in the ruck aftere Clarke went down, but I'd like to see him match it with Jolly and Everitt next week before saying he should be the number one ruckman ahead of Gardiner and Clarke. He is very good around the ground, but he can't stay in the ruck if he isn't going to at least break even. He might even be best as a half forward flanker where he can basically play as a ruckman but with doing the centre bounces and he'd still be able to push forward and kick goals.

Until last Friday night Kosi looked to me like he couldnt bend over - a bit like his injury in 2002 (?) which cost him almost a full year.
Lets hope that he is just in need of some game time to get him back to full fitness. All Saints fans know what this guy is capable of, and how much he means to the team when he is fully fit.

Does Kosi have a future at full forward? The steam is running out in the G-Train as apparently he was close to retiring last year. I think he could do it but his kicking for goal must improve. He was such a good kick for goal before the last 2 years of injuries. He is now as BAD as roo.
Not a FF. That's why we got Watts, and even Brooks. Kosi is a FP/ruckman/follower; that's where he plays his best footy.
