Wheelers Hill ground is a really good ground if you like running up hills through the middle. THE SLANT IS MASSIVE. Scotch and Carey easily best grounds in APS

Scotch? Terrible in the centre and they don't even have a full 50 metre line.

Scotch definately dont have the best ground, the middle is a mud heap and its a very small ground with only 40m arcs. the best ground in the APS would be careys. its biggish and a very good deck.

Careys ground best by far!!!

yeah true, carey is fantastic. geelong grammar is not bad execpt for the wind factor. BRIGHTON GRAMMAR HAS TO BE THE BEST EVER. hands down

Not.

last night i spoke with a man whos been involved in school footy for decades and he recons that the carey ground is absolutely crap on a wet day. he said it was the worst aps ground in the wet. i quite like it tho.

The fact that the APS side are playing on the Carey oval is a pretty good indication of how good it is.

Drainage is an issue, although according to the Ammos they've taken steps to improve that.

yeah it can turn to shit after rain but doesnt last that long, in decent condition at the moment, not the best ive seen it tho. should be a top venue for the aps v ags game

yeh the ground has terrible drainage.. stayed wet the whole game and probably didnt dry that whole day i was there... wheelers hill oval however has very good drainage and drys pretty much within 5 mints of playing but gets ripped up very easily. carey ground is in better condish but drainage is an issue

Carey may have a good ground... But they never win any football on it so it really doesn't help them. Xavier rarely lose on their ground and use it well, so it's probably the best ground in the APS/ it's an aths track now already which is bullshit.

This is true. Carey will need at least 100% of their team on scholarships to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder next year and if they do that they will be even more of a joke.

Scotch will have the best best oval by the season opener. It is great size, with great atmosphere without stupid wind such as GGS and MGS, and also isnt in the middle of knowwhere in relation to the school, SKC.

one day whoever runs the aps is just gonna say why the hell are st kevins even in this competition and the most unsuccessful school of the 20th and 21st centuries will leave the competion forever without the slightest dent

i think ull find they won the most APS premierships out of any of the schools last year. i think some were dud sports, but the cheque book pulled through in their aths win.

Who cares how skevs went last year in obscure sports. SO far this year MGS have won the cricket and volleyball. Both have been accomplished without pulling out the checkbook, and we are looking like chances in the Rowing, Footy and Aths.

you are looking an even bigger chance to not win any of these,

wrong there mate - probably best not to start spreading rumours if you don't know the truth. MGS have dominated the last few years, having won for the last 3 years. The team this year will be as strong as ever, with mat gronow playing his 5th year. Gronow would have played 1sts footy in yr 10 had he not decided to quit and focus on water polo - which he has now completely dominated in the aps.

Prepared to mention any names?????? Cos you obviously haven't spoken to any mgs boys. Gronow has been coming to grammar since year 7, just like his older brother, and his cousins. He is not on a scholarship. That'll be the thrid premiership in the bag for the year.

MATT MCLEAN pronounced MCLANE is soon to take the APS by storm. been working on his rockets at polo training. but has amazing football skills on both sides. has size and speed and will be this years up and comer. who knows might break some peoples bones while hes at is coz hes such a hard nut player. once i saw him tackle someone taggin him and screwed up his back and the kid can never play contact sport again. watch out fellaz.

xaviers scoreboard has truly enhanced the experience of playing the Roche Oval at xavier college. not only for the players but also the spectators. it truly is a spectacle in itself. it will be interesting to see the advances made by other schools and their scoreboards knowing that like xavier an upgrade is needed for a lot of schools. in my personal opinion i love playing on the scotch oval. there isnt really a dead side with people surrounding the oval

Not too sure about Carey... pretty bad atmosphere, out in the stix, pretty vast surrounds for 3/4 of the ground. In terms of atmosphere it would be:
Geelong College
Brighton
Scotch
Xavier
Caulfield
Skevs
Wesley
MGS (flack park), but main is awesome
Geelong Grammar
Carey
Haileybury

Actual grounds in terms of turf condition would have MGS, Scotch and Xavs up there. Wesley used to be, Carey way too wet. Geelong Grammar pretty good. Caulfield have just got theirs resurfaced, so not sure about them, but Brighton's turf is a shocker. Haileybury is middling.

Well... it is...

Brighton's about 5 minutes from the CBD down Nepean... and Bulleen's about half an hour...

But... TRF, if you're referring to Old Brighton's ground then you are right, but you cant possibly suggest that the scrap at the actual school is the 2nd best ground...
