Not a bad card, some opening lines:
Anderson Silva 1.44
Nate Marquardt 2.75
Tito Ortiz 1.71
704 Rashad Evans 2.10
They have brought out a few big names for this one!
That's an awesome card, Rashad is going to ko Tito i'm sure of it. Sherk-Franca is a rippa. Big nog yeeeeeah lets see what this big boy can do in the world's greatest testing ground, the octagon....:)
yep I'll chuck a couple beans on Evans.
I'm with both of you. Evans to stop Tito. Wish Nog could have fought someone other then Heath. I don't care about PRDIE vs UFC but he's already fought him twice.
One of these, maybe Nog vs Herring should be on 72.
No chance. Tito will win this one via brutal ground and pound (referee stoppage) or decision.
Rashad, whilst i like the guy has fought no-one of any note. Tito is at the next level. It will be interesting to see what Rashad has got.
I agree with Hoff that Tito will likely beat Rashad, but Evans has been pretty impressive so far. He is worth a bet given those odds.
I'd like to see Keith Jardine v Tito, that would be a good matchup.
Looks like a good card.
yea I wouldnt put the farm on him, but it's an ok bet.
Ortiz is only on "the next level" when he can get his game off, and use his wrestling to get the dominant position on the ground. If he cant do this, he turns into a very ordinary fighter very quickly.
Evans survived against a better pure wrestler in Salmon, perhaps not as good GNP, and came back and KO'd him. Ortiz will have his moments, but Ortiz will always be a sitting duck on his feet. Plus, Ortiz has shown a tendancy of late to gas, and while I think he may go well in the first, will probably fade as the fight goes on, and thus be more and more at risk to get clocked.
It's not wrong line of the year type staff ala Koscheck-Sanchez ;) but IMO should be a pick em fight.
Rashad into $1.95, Ortiz $1.80.
This will start even money IMO. Should have got one earlier.

After watching Jardine get his head knocked off by a guy on debut, I'm not so sure anymore!

yeah that was one out of the blue. Jardine would be devestated with the loss. Still, should be a good fight Tito vs Evans.

Who knows what happens with MMA these days? All fights should start even money.
I'm ordering this one for sure, great card. Really looking forward to the Evans-Ortiz fight, big Nog's debut, and for some reason i always like watching Hermes Franca fight he's like a little bulldog. I like the undercard too, Florian fights with a lot of heart.
This sunday guys.
Yep, this one should be fun.

I think i've got a new favourite fighter for when randy gives it away - big nogs entry music at yesterday's event alone is reason enough to love the guy. I found myself standing up barracking for him all alone - no mates around and wife/kids sent packing to mum in laws whilst ufc73 is on. I even remember calling him "noggy" at one stage. Go noggy get him if i remember correctly.....but then, i was a little drunk at the time.........:)
Great event all round in my opinion, highlight for me was the Herring/Noggy (there i go again) fight. I thought Nog was gone but you can never discount a champion i guess.

Tito looked flat, unfortunatly. I thinks he's past it and doesnt have the desire anymore, too busy rooting Jenna
Tito looked gassed which is unusual. Rashad stepped it up in the last, but didn't look that good. Rashad would have won if it was 5 rounds though.
Silva dominated. That guy is just keeps impressing (and suprising) me with how good he is.
Nog didn't look that impressive although he took that huge hit. That would have KO'd almost anyone.
Kenny Florion looked good.
But Sherk was the man of the night. Just unstoppable. I can't see anyone beating him at 155, that includes BJ.
A BJ Penn Sherk fight would be massive.
I actually wasnt that suprised tito gasses, he hasnt shown my good cardio in a long time, and it is hard to forget him being totally spent after one round with Forrest Griffin.
Tito was just physically so much bigger, which was the difference. Evans was very limited, as he is somewhat of a mirror image of Tito, but I didnt realise the physical difference. Dunno how Rasheed fought at Heavy, he was dwarfed by a Light Heavy, although Tito is a big one.
Herring may have been hurt, but needed better killer instinct at the end of the first, and he would have won. Why he wanted it stood up, when Nog was clearly not far from going was beyond me. He had to roll the dice and simply land shots, I think he was extremly close to a stoppage there.
I agree, I cant see how anyone at lightweight, including BJ can beat Sherk, unless you can match his wrestling. He is amazingly strong and powerful at the weight, and as a result will overpower most. He is hitable, but your only hope is to catch him shooting if you cant stop him takedowns. Perhaps the most powerful fighter p4p in the sport. Sherk at 155 is MUCH STRONGER than Hughes was at 170. Thats saying something.
Is it me, or is Greg Jackson having a horrible run?
Haha yeah all his fighters are a bit on the nose at the moment...
Yeah sherk sure was impressive. He is massively strong for 155. I do reckon BJ would make a great match, but as you said Sherks wrestling is top notch. I don't reckon he wouldn't manhandle BJ on the ground like he did Hermez. BJ would need to work extensively on his cardio to match it for 25 minutes though.
Its funny because Tito always prides himself on his cardio...
i think bj could most definitely take sherk, provided he trained.

Agreed but it would be tough. As you said, he'd need to train hard. But IMO BJ is more skilled than Sherk, he just isn't as strong or as fit.
Shrek to win via BJ gass out 1m 3rd round
