-Ozzy Osbourne Makes Changes On Catalog Re-Issues

Epic Records celebrates the career of hard rock icon Ozzy Osbourne
with the re-release of four essential catalog albums: BLIZZARD OF OZZ,
DIARY OF A MADMAN, TRIBUTE, and NO MORE TEARS. Originally released
between 1981 and 1991, the albums, have been digitally remastered and
feature original artwork, lyrics, vintage photography, and new liner
notes.

Both BLIZZARD OF OZZ and DIARY OF A MADMAN were re-recorded with new
bass and drum parts performed by Robert Trujillo (bass) and Mike
Bordin (drums). It was Osbourne's decision to replace original bassist
Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake on these new releases.

"Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake have harassed Ozzy and our family for
several years," said manager Sharon Osbourne. "Because of their
abusive and unjust behavior, Ozzy wanted to remove them from these
recordings. We turned a negative into a positive by adding a fresh
sound to the original albums. We hope the fans enjoy the new versions
as much as we do."

You've got to be joking. Why doesn't Ozzy re-do his vocal parts and get Zakk Wylde to erase Randy Rhoads unbelievable guitar work as well?

I can't blame the Ozzman because I reckon it's the handy work of that manipulative bitchy wife of his. She's got the balls in that relationship.

She recently kicked former Ozzy bassist Phil Soussan at Randy Castillo's funeral for ****'s sake. Show some respect for the dead bitch. As a manager of other bands Sharon Osbourne has a poor track record, and has lost many clients.

I agree with you Savatage. Its pretty pityful. Dont mess with classic albums purely out of spite. Completely poor show from the Ozzy organization.

Unfortunately he can't change history.....all his long time fans would have the originals and any royalty's accrued still go to the original members on "those" albums sold.

I presume the new albums will have a different catalogue number to the originals otherwise the record company will find itself in a legal mess when it comes to accounting for sales.

Ozzy's a f**kwit anyway (I still like his albums though).

They may erase Kerslake & Daisleys parts- but they can't erase their songwriting credits! So what's the point of the entire exercise.

Sharon Osbourne, you are a ****wit.

Maybe the sales of the last two albums have been so bad that this is the only way to make some quick bucks without coming up with new, quality material.

Re-packaged stuff always looks tacky and reeks of sellouts, the way Metallica have put out a heap of unnecessary stuff in the last 10 years, the way Iron Maiden flog everything in 20 different formats, and now Ozzy releasing the same material for a third time. The early stuff was all remastered and re-released with glossy booklets etc. only a few years ago.

Very disappointing, and the ultimate insult to guys like Daisley and Kerslake who served Blizzard Of Ozz well in the early years. Then again, insulting them is the point of it all.

Darky- I dare say they would be the two best selling Ozzy albums anyway. I just put it down to a ****s act.

On a slightly related matter I am pretty sure that Bob Daisley resides in Sydney these days.

Yep - certainly does.

He's produced a few bands up here too.

Too cool man, and I think he jammed with Eric Singer & Bruce Kulick last time they were together in Sydney.

Blizzard and Diary are probably the two best albums and the best sellers (with respectable mentuions on both counts to Tribute and No More Tears, but this still reeks to me of a last ditch attempt to revive a flagging career.

No More Tears was the start of a slower, more thoughtful approach to Ozzy's songs and in the 10 years since, there have only been two studio albums, both incredibly dull.

This might be Ozzy's last attempt at making some money before his career totally dies in the arse and changes his name back to John, and a last ditch attempt to prove he can still rock. :(

Obviously the claims made by the Osbournes about Daisley and Kerslake are public record, but I think there might be more to it and those two are just convenient scapegoats.

I saw Ozzy in 1998 when he played Festival Hall, and it was a great show, but the material released since doesn't really make me think another tour would be any better (and I have heard a rumour he is looking at an Oz tour in 2003).

Read an interview where it was quite openly stated that Ozzy only stays clean these days for a few months then it all gets a bit much and he goes on a bender , ends up back in rehab.Same interview stated that his wife is the one who organises the " Ozzfest" shows in the U.S. so maybe he really isnt making any of the descisions for himself or at least not in a fit state...sad really every second descent heavy band these days claims Ozzy and Black Sabbath as influences.

Well I saw an episode of "The Osbournes" from MTV tonight.....jeezuz....ozzy looks and acts like Neil of the Young Ones. He's definately had far too much of other substances!

There is a really funny part where he's checking out all the stage preparations for 'The Tour" and the stage has all these bubbles floating off of the stage and he says....
"Hey I'm Ozzy Osbourne, I'm supposed to be the f**king prince of darkness, and they give me bubbles...! Sharon! Sharon!

It was a classic!
