Another quick look today. About 30 players out there, they were doing skills work when I got there, then worked on set plays. Some good stuff:

(from another thread) I had a look at training this morning and there was no-one - and I mean no-one - working as hard as Kiwi Campbell. He was the main man up forward, and I definitely liked what I saw. I will be very, very surprised if he doesn't play this weekend. Some of his leads up to half forward, and then kicks into Sandi on the lead from FF were beautiful to watch. Then his own leads from FF when he was switched there, and his straight as an arrow kicks for goal.... noice, noice.

Schammer took part in the whole session, including the contact stuff. He looks very keen to get out there and ran really hard (I was surprised at just how hard - didn't think he was anywhere near that yet) and his skills looked good too.

Thornton - same. Took part in the whole session. There was one hard run up the middle, and a beautiful kick at full tilt which hit a leading forward on the chest. A number of blokes went up to him and gave him a pat on the back, and I heard someone yell - great kick mate. :thumbsu:

Haddrill trainied, but left the track with two trainers before the contact stuff. He didn't look to be in any discomfort, so not sure what was going on.

Peakey looks like a hyper kid missing his Ritalin... he ran, and ran and ran and took part in all but the real contact stuff, when he went off and had some shots at goal. I heard CC a couple of time praise him for "great running Peakey".

I do like the look of Ibbo - he's very fleet-footed and has good skills also.

Chris Smith also looks a likely type - and I haven't seen much of him before. He seems pretty quick, and he's certainly well built for an 18 year old.

Mourish also looks pretty quick, with good skills. Be great if these younger guys were ready to go!!

Players who weren't there: JCarr, Hase, Dunn, Collard, Mundy, Tarrant, McPharlin, JLo, Blackie, Wiz (obviously), Browne, Foster and Rumble.

Would there be any reason why the guys you mentioned didnt train?

Was there any reason why hot coals weren't spread across the oval as some form of punishment for Sunday?

Thanks for the training report Imperial :thumbsu:

Yes good work. i was excited to hear about Kiwi, I hope he makes it out there this week. He really gives us something up there. It will be so great so see Thornton, Schammer & Peake out there again. They all give us so much drive and run.

I agree. K1W1 looks to be demanding to get picked. :thumbsu:

Top work yet again IP. :thumbsu:

Cheers for the report IP.

Good to hear about Mourish especially. I was little concerned seeing him sprint laps earlier this year and really struggling. I wasn't sure whether it was an endurance problem or he just lacked leg-speed. The fact that you've noted he is showing a bit of toe, suggests that it is the former which can easily be improved. Very encouraging.

I've noticed that Peake and Browne are often praised during training, maybe they lack the confidence that most players have.

Hopefully all the training positives can be transfered onto gameday for a good win against the in-form Hawks.:thumbsu:

8 goals, excellent training, if kiwi doesnt get picked this week it will send the worst of messages to the team.

Scahmmer, Peake, Browne, Ibbotson, Smith, Collard. What do these names have in common? Speed, skill, and run through the midfield. As much as the trade for Tarrant and Solomon gets criticised (actually I think most people think the trade was ok) because it did not address midfield issues, we do have a pretty good layer of developing small and mid-sized midfielders.
