Love for this to happen, but it won't eventuate. He is to close to Brisbane if you know what I mean.

reckon he would be a gun
aggressive, proud, consistent, and effective down forward
can't see bris vegas letting him go, or him wanting to go - especially to us.
most likely would have to pay a lot for him to in both salary and on the trade table

I love Charman, he's one of my favorite players, but his aggressiveness often leads to injuries... a bit risky IMO.

It was risky to come into season 2007 with only one ruckman!!!!!!!

Like someone mentioned on the main board, you couldn't name a player less likely to leave Brisbane if you tried.
You'd be better off going after Cameron Wood.

ridiculous really.
we do have knobel also, but probably didnt expect him to be injured all year -
its just ridiculous that we have so many guys who are completely capacble of playing the marking forward role and no ruckman and full back - the gaspar decision is going to hurt us, and terry has gotten it completely wrong in my opinion. he miller have got to start getting the shit together, because the team is all over the shop. there is no balance at all
the only thing i can say in support to them is that the worst guys we couldpossibly have picked to not be playing, aren't playing simmonds our ruck with no back up - cogs of grunt who has no back up - brown our crumber and pressure forward with no quality back up - and (stupidly) gaspar, being shoved out the door so now no genuine full back
we have no choice but to tank i think, becausew without these type of players, it's extremely hard to win.

we are in this situation mr miller because of your ineptitude and your non existant list management. people have been calling out for you to look after the kpp and rucks for 5 yrs and you continually ignored them.
what i would like to know is what are you prepared to give away to get charman. and if we got him without giving away the no 1 pick would you gooses in charge then be prepared to take kruezer with our no1 pick or another youngster with pick 17 or 18.
knowing you you will trade pick 1 for charman who by the way turns 26 next yr and then not take a junior ruckman in the draft thinking the jobs done. you only ever think about the here and now miller please piss off out of our club asap.

i think were all forgetting how good simmonds did last year ffs
he was unlucky to not be picked in all australian
was just pipped by lade and cox
he will still be very valuable when hes 100%
and adam pattison has showed hes got ability
he was a top 20 draft pick so he must have talent
no need to take a player with a bad attitude who goes the man not the ball

the only concern is injury record.

Charman doesn't get alot of hand to the ball in the ruck. We are better off getting a ruckman with at least another 5cm reach. Simmonds was outreached by Cox and Ottens by 10cm over the last 2 weeks.

Meesen - he is what w should be looking at. young, wants to come home, fits into our age drop, can play forward - and will be a good back up to simmonds. use schulz to get him, that way the forward line can still have hughes reiwoldt, pattison and richo also for a few more years. add meesen and simmonds and we have some depth in multiple poistions. then we can concentrate completely on midfielders (tuff ones) and key position backman in the draft
i SO SO SO hope that miller and wallace are thinkning this same way - to me it's black and white
when richo has retired - hughes wil be 23, jack21, simmonds 31,pattison 24, meesen 24, schulz 24.
if we can get meesen without losing jay, even better. PSD would be a dream - that above is a core of great players to take over for the years after richo - BALANCE!
Astro. Do I notice you've changed favourite teams?

i would wanna see meesen play a few games before we take him
just because he was taken high in the draft means nothing
if we did decide to pick him up though the only deal i could see happening would be
meyer for meesen
and i think meyer deserves adleast another 10 games before we can even start to judge him

Meyer for Meesen is fair considering both havent done anything yet.

11 May 2007, 15:17
What about Barry Brooks. He has had limited opportunity at the Saints and was a high draft pick. I remember he kicked a few goals (I think 5) in a game late last year but doesn't seem to make the side. He must show something for them to keep him on the list but I don't know much about him. Is he worth chasing?

The ultimate recruiting coup by Miller and would restore a bit of faith in him amongst the Tiger faithful. Trade Meyer for Meeson and snare Charman in the PSD at Pick 1 (assuming we end up there). Suddenly the Tigers biggest weakness is there strongest area with Simmonds at 29, Charman at 25 and Meeson at 21(?) along with Graham and Pattison as depth.

that would be a coup and a half! but we have to be reasonable, and say that that is not likely to happen
i will be rapt if we can get meesen in the PSD - basically another top ten pick for free

what is wrong with you people meeson has shown absolutely nothing at adelaide zilch nought stuff all.whats wrong with growing our own. sheesh why would we trade for someone who is more than likely going to be nothing but someone who uses up a space on our limited list of 42. you want a young quality ruckman go after kruezer and trade for a big body like charman for the interim as long as he doesnt cost the earth. all this talk about meeson a top 10 pick what do es everyone think adelaide will want for him. and why do you think hes being touted as a possible trade.

I love Millers comments, we would not be able to afford to high a premium for him?? WTF! who is this club paying big money apart from a few of our senior guys. We should be the lowest on the list of salary cap usage.

Where's that head scratching emoticon?;)
This year being a strong draft for ruckmen, I'd be very inclined to not trade anything significant away (in terms of picks or salary) on a seasoned ruck, as we should be able to pick up a very good kid (in the mould of Wood) early 2nd round.
I'd be happy to spend next to nothing and pick up even someone along the Cloke/Ackland line as depth for the next two years or so. We're not going to be premiership contenders, so we shouldn't be considering giving anything away to trade for a mid age player who will be late 20's when we're contenders, then leave us with the same ruck situation we've had for years - too many veterans, maybe's and juniors, with nobody in between.
Pattison needs to become a 2nd string, highly mobile ruckman, or he's a completely wasted high pick. He's never going to become a better key forward than two of Schulz, Hughes and Reiwoldt. May as well give him some time to try and make it in the centre.
Getting a good kid 2nd round should be the priority, and adding a clumsy but huge rookie wouldn't hurt either, depending on how Graham develops at Coburg.

agree with the first 2 paragraphs.
if kruezer is half as good as most think use the first rounder on him even. its also a must to draft more than one ruckman. in the short term your cloke ackland scenario is correct.its imperative we at least rookie list another ruckman as well. on pattison i still think hes a chf or nothing.
imo first pick, best avail;able. pick 17 ruckman if kruezer is not taken pick 1. or if kruezer is first pick pick 17 should be kpd preferably big bodied with potential to play anywhere down the spine must be able to play fb.. pick 18 should be best available good sized well rounded more inside than outside onballer. pick 34 should be kpp.sooner or later we have to address list needs and start plugging the holes. this scenario should go a long way to help fixing the gaps.

I thought Patto had his best game rucking today clawsy...after the first couple where he got smashed, he really gritted his teeth and was much more competitive than he has been in the past.
Ironically, we've already let about as good as we could get for a makeshift ruckman slip through our fingers - Rix. He'd be very handy to have ATM.
I still think we need to bolster the midfield with top picks more than our KP stocks. If we have three top-20 picks - as seems likely - I'd like to see us spend two of them on big bodied midfielders with a bit of grunt and skill. Spend the other on a ruckman, and keep looking for late blooming KP's like Thursfield late in the draft and rookie draft.
ATM I reckon our biggest hole to plug is still the midfield.

I posted the below in one of the other threads. Not sure I would go as far as having Miller p1ss off but if he starts throwing around the #1 pick, I would gladly carry him out on my back. Start selecting smartly and stop throwing around cash and draft picks for easy gains.
If we start throwing around the dollars for a quick fix there is nothing surer than my membership not being renewed. I'm sick of of the Tige's going to market paying over the dollars for mediocre players. They're paying average / good players star rates by doing this. All we end up with is overpaid average / good players. And hence, our list is where it is.
Leave it alone and look at developing a list. Get the friggin recruitment department properly organised (which I hope has already occurred) and go out and select the right players. And FFS, select someone who can go in and get the ball. No more boundary riders please. Geez we're missing Coughlan!

we are going to have to go after at least 1 and proberly 2 uncontracted players.
with the way the tpp is set up we have to spend at least 92.5% of our cap.
with gasper going off, brown proberly getting a reduced contract and not many of the young guys as yet worth more money we will have to chase a star or 2 from some where else to make sure we spend the 92.5%.
unless we are going to reward our current list.
