I am happy with selection but would have kept Warnock instead of GIlmore.

Seems strange doesn't it? Maybe he pulled up sore or something. I can't see the logic in dropping him if it's going to be a dry day. Maybe CC doesn't rate Hawthorns ruck division and thinks Gilmore can do the job.

Hawthorn are a relatively quick side so thats probably why. Get Gilly running around and make their ruckman chase him all day.

On Warnock out - I knew it... knew it, knew it, knew it. Gilmore in cos he's quick. Warnock gets the chop after one game... :thumbsd:

On Parker out - what was the reason given?? Form, or did he "pull up sore"?

Matchups will probably be the major reason. It's not like Hawthorn have an abundence of key forwards that need stoppers put on them.

But this is Shane Parker. Walk up start since ever. Played "most games for the club and deserves the opportunity to play as many games as he can".

Walker will play out of the back half - maybe Duffield at times too. Surely the club hasn't decided that they are better options in defence than Shane Parker. I mean Mark Harvey said he wouldn't be dropped cos he's the games record holder at the club....

Must admit, always thought when someone makes their debut at least give them at least 2-3 games.....

Knowing the type of person Parker is, would`nt be surprised if he asked to be left out..... Even though his form has been below par, do feel sorry for him. First time i can recall him missing out (dropped)...

Parker has been in ordinary form, fair enough. I'm sure he will bounce back though being the type of player he is.

In: Pace

Out: Slowness

These are good changes. We cant play Pavlich, Campbell, Warnock, Sandliands, Tarrant, McPharlin, Johnson, Grover, Mundy, Parker

It is far too tall we need more small men midfielders to rotate and run.

That teams still too tall. Id be bewildered if Collard didnt come in especially if its going to rain.

I'd prefer to still see Warnock in the team of Gilmore... the rest of it is ok though.

why all the hysteria regards gilmour he cops a bagging every time he walks out. there you have all complained about lack of pace ,warnock slow, campbell slow ,cookie slow, sandi slow, they all cant play at the same time .gilly is tall quick & kicks long .we have been to slow into pav & tarrant & gilly can break lines so give him a go .we all wanted changes we/ve got them so lets support all the boys & WE WILL WIN

This is true. We've got some changes here so let's at least let see how they pan out on Sunday before we critisize them. I would've like to have seen Warnock play as well, but the few comments regarding too much tall timber are quite accurate. Warnock deserves another run, however Campbell deserves a runas well. Glad I didnt have to make the choice.
Gilmore bashing is fast becoming a past time for some people. Sure he has a few dud diposals but the positives he brings outweigh the negatives. Gilmore IS a good player.
Parker out is a big change for CC and the coaching staff. We all were calling for Parker to be dropped, now that is has happened we can't go soft and back away. Parker will have a week off or play in the WAFL and will hopefully be better for it. It is almost certainly his last season so we all know he'll get another chance to play. Maybe Parker should be managed game by game - like they do with N Buckley when he's fit and running.

no... :( :(

Got dinner plans. Bummer, eh??

Souths: Farmer, Collard, Murphy, Thornton
Perth: Cook, Drum, Haddrill

If Farmer's playing in the middle - might Cookie line up on him?

Haddrill on Murphy maybe?

Thornton on TGaspar (bloody traitor moving from SF to Perth... ) or Krueger (Ex Crow).

Should be a good game. Some good tests for our boys - it will be handy if they line up on another AFL, or ex-AFL player.

If I were going and I saw Cookie playing for Perth, iron out Sampi playing for Souths... woiuld I laugh and cheer, or boo loudly???? ;)

You've got your priorities wrong IP!

I'll be surprised if they play Cook on Farmer. Would be good from a dockers view point though.

Haddrill and Murphy will probably happen, will be interesting to see who plays better. The way that Murphy's been playing Robbie could really hurt him on the rebound.

Considering the names in South's forward line Gaspar would be playing for the reserves if he had stayed. Incredible that he played in an afl grand final 18 months ago.

I thought the very same thing last night (about - funny he played in an AFL GF 18 months ago). My daughter and I were the only ones in a pharmacy in South Freo last night, when who should walk in but one T.Gaspar. I whispered to my daughter, "there's your cousin (true - the Gaspar's are related to my husband). You should go and say hello and tell him eagles suck and he's a traitorous whatsit for leaving South Freo."

She didn't (well wouldn't - although I did try and bribe her with cash... ;) ) - and seeing as I don't really know him we just finished our purchase and left. But I thought - funny how he played in an AFL GF 18 months ago... :)

He was also the reason that my son who is now 10, decided when he was about 5 that he was going to be an Eagles supporter. When he found out he had a cousin playing for them, he thought he should do the "family thing" and support the team his cousin played for....

That lasted 2 days and was doing my head in. So I did the only thing a responsible parent could do - I took him down to Freo training, and who should come up and ruffle his hair and say hello but the Great Man - Pav! My boy was back in the Freo camp right then and there and has never waivered from the one true faith since. (The real reason why I love Pav so much... ;) :D ).

Good to know the real reason for your Pavlich proclivity I.P. Here I was all this time thinking it was the glutes! :)

Hopefully Hase is fine and just had an off day last week. Josh hasn't trained all week, if both miss we are screwed.

If Parker has been dropped on form then I applaud the match commitee, however on that basis then Matthew Carr should have gone first, so I believe it's a matchup issue or injury reason.

Doesnt he always play on Dixon?

Cookie didn't play for Perth last night in the WAFL - someone on DL reckons he's going to be brought in as a late change tomorrow.

Warnock will onyl be used when their are two solid ruckmen. Gilmore will play against teams like the Saints when players such as Blake are taking a chunk of the hitouts.

I'm glad Parker was dropped, but what do they do next? Assuming he is 100% fit and hasn't been selected, will he come back in for the trip to Geelong? Will he play for Subi next week? Will he retire?

I'd like to see him sit out the Geelong game then announce that the game against the Saints in a fortnight will be his last and retire from footy.

On what we've seen so far this year Thornton, Haddrill and Duffield all offer more than him. Your mate Ryley will be ready in about a month.

It would be sad to see Parker run around at Subi then come in for a token send off in round 21. He's not playing wafl this week and the state game is in a fortnight, so by the time he gets 2 or 3 wafl games under his belt Haddrill and Thornton will hopefully be bashing the door down to get in.

The club erred by encouraging him to play on, they need to find a resolution asap.
