After the points system was given the all clear last year some of their club people were heard to be saying that they would not be letting any players play for interleague after everything that their mighty club had done for the league. They felt the points sytem was a kick in the teeth for all their hard work the club had done to make this a better comp. Young blokes really have a lot to look forward to at the cattery.

Silvan are a rubbish club beleiving that 5-6 years of brought success will make up for years of Second Div dwelling. All this talk about these players being of some enormous benefit to all that get to play them and we as league gain somthing from being able to play them at there rubbish ground with rubbish change rooms should have a look at themselves.

Our boys at the interleague game today went down by about 2 points. Apparently they were up there most of the day but lost at the end.
Believe the "Unders" had a convincing 100 odd point win in their game, not bad considering the state of the 18's comp in the valley at the moment.
Well done boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Would never play for them, one of the best things that happened was there ground being ripped up and not having to use that sess pool of a change rooms. I suppose no point having good rooms if your own players and supporters wont even hang around after a game.

YVMDFL Interleague
Last kick of the day robs YVMDFL from clean sweep.
In weather perfect conditions, YVMDFL travelled to St Arnaud Saturday to play North Central / Mallee Leagues in senior & under 18 football and senior netball.
With a huge crowd in attendance, our under 18s set the scene with a 99 point win, 19.16 103 to North Central / Mallee 5.1 31. A 7 goal 1st quarter laid the foundations with an outstanding all round team performance. Under 18 coach Brett Fisher commented on how impressed he was with the effort & contributions of each & every boy. James Shambrook, captain & full forward was best on ground with an 8 goal haul in an awesome performance. James was well supported by Monbulk pair Justin Creed 3 goals & Kieran Gray 2. Dean Lunn-Wilson also played well providing great drive on the wing with James Dunnett showing his potential with a solid effort for all 4 quarters.
YVMDFLs netball team asserted their dominance early and ran away with a 66 to 33 goal win over North Central. YVMDFL were never headed and took control in every aspect of the play. Captain Jade Hottes showed her class with a brilliant best on court performance. Kate Youlton was on fire up forward shooting 40 goals. Sam Coller was evergreen with her performance as goal defence and her regular intercepts were a key factor in the YVMDFL victory. Youngster Mary Livesy was also dominant in the goal keeping position thwarting many attacking move from North Central. Coach Kate Upton was very impressed with the teams performance and is already looking forward to next years challenge. Sarah Hogan, Kath Brown, Rachel Snell, & Courtney McDonald were also dominant players on the day.
The senior YVMDFL team was pipped at the siren with North Central / Mallees last kick of the game resulting in a goal. In a high standard game, YVMDFL always looked in control and got off to a flyer with a 7 goal to 3 opening term. Goal sneek Brendan James was prominent early in the game kicking 3 goals. From qtr time the game was an arm wrestle although YVMDFL were never headed until the last 20 seconds of the game.
It was probably bad kicking that cost the YVMDFL with a 1 goal 6 behind last quarter. Mark Sandilands, YVMDFL coach was disappointed with the final result but had nothing but praise for the efforts of his team.
Final scores were YVMDFL 13.17 97 lost to North Central / Mallee 15.7 97.
Daniel Ryan with 3 goals was a solid performer and was well supported by Sam Turner 2, Robert Allan 2 & Cam Buckland 2. Danny Ryan & Ryan Van Hoorn were YVMDFL best a-field players.

Hello all i am a new member to this forum. I am also a fan of the Cats (Silvan), you know the club that so many of you love to bag! Well i am particularly interested in the species of NOCHANCE. Are you human? Or is your name short for NOCHANCE I HAVE A BRAIN! Maybe instead of bagging Silvan you should come clean on who you are and what forest you come from. Our blokes dont have a problem with our facilities, our ground now has one of the best playing surfaces in the league. At least most people on this forum acknowledge where they are from but you seem a little gutless to do that. I look forward to a brainless reply from you.

when the money disapears, doesn't sound hopefull. cant say i know how deep the pockets are but i reckon they're pretty deep.
so if it does and the performance goes down dramtically they'll still get bagged for throwing cash around, people in football always hold grudges

since everyones given up on 1st div i think theres barely anyone who cares about it anymore, 2nd div on the other hand is still open to a few teams so i reckon you can back and watch darts because 2nd div's gonna have more competitive matches than the 1st div blowouts by silvan

Play divy 2 drive an hour or so to get to a game $1.55 a litre in fuel yep Divy 2 must be great fun.

First division is getting a bit predictable. If Monbulk displaces Mount Evelyn from the five (and the result of their recent meeting suggests that they will), then it will be the fourth consecutive year that the same five teams have played in the finals. Silvan will beat either Upwey or Monbulk on grand final day. Healesville will fail in the finals as always. Wandin are too good to be in the relegation battle, but not good enough to challenge for a finals place. Gembrook and Warburton will fight it out for 8th. I was hoping that Mount Evelyn would be a finals prospect this season, but they haven't been able to win at home against Healesville or Monbulk.

17 wins in a row? I think you may have forgotten last years 2nd semi when Woori won so its only 8 wins in a row. People maybe underestimating Woori who came from 8 goals down to nearly knock the Cats over last round and without one of their best players in Sharp. Finals are a long way off so its not just a matter of Silvan Vs ???. We are a long way off that, there are probably 6 sides fighting out the top 5, just 6 rounds into the season and anything can happen. Out of those 6 sides Silvan has played only 3 of them, Monbulk, Woori and Healesville. Both Monbulk and Woori were in winning positions in the last quarter of those games so the race for this years flag is alot more wide open than some think.
Mt Ev, Big improvers this year surprising haven't won at home yet any particular reason other than the obvious one (not good enough)
Is Ben F still on the Mt Ev radar or has the matter been finally put to bed.
I hope everyone doesn't agree with ALFY and his views on division 2. We moved from a league that didn't care about div 2 teams (in particular struggling or fringe teams) and that league went from being arguably the best metro league in the 90's to a very mediocre league now.
The strength of any league or any team for that matter is judged by its weakest link and everyone needs to repsect and assist even hated clubs if the league is to be successful.
If you continue to dismiss and disrespect others ALFY and think that noone is worthy competition you will eventually be left playing with yourself.
Something I suspect you do quite often.

Alfy and alike are a bit misinformed I think. Sth Belly were in the bottom half of the ladder last year in divvy 2. I watched my nephew at Heatmont v eastern lions last week and I think that sides like Thornton and Alexandra would if not beat them go very close and I think they sit 1 & 2 ??
Be honest who really cares about Div 2!! .
Going by this forum plenty of people enjoy Divvy2. Let's face it there are probably no AFL players posting here so there's always a league and level better than the ones we all follow.
Big danger game for the Boners this week and a couple of big names out won't help.
T/E are 5th on the list of Victorian Club's consecutive wins and I think, please correct me if I'm wrong, that their last loss was Emerald at Emerald.
Go Boners.

Is that a typo?
What I said was sposed to be tongue in cheek coz Chirnside copped some big losses last season and have now become a premeirship contender on the back of recruiting heavily from the Y.V. You would think most EFL people could see that but obviously not.

Rosy I was going through the results and I think Thorntons last loss may have been against Yarra Glen at Yarra 13 games ago
Thanks in2rested. It is 13 consecutive wins. I was just guessing at Emerald as the last loss the Boners had. They did lose there last year in a pretty ordinary game though.
In case anyone is interested in the consecutive wins list (fingers crossed I don't mozz us) here it is
Bambill (Millewa) 25
Elmore (Heathcote district) 19
Silvan (YVMDFL Div 1 ) 17
Stanhope (Kyabram District) 17
Thornton-Eildon (YVMDFL Div 2 ) 13
Narre Warren (MPNFL-CC) 9.
That's according to the Weekly Times but someone posted on here that Silvan lost the 2nd semi last year. Anyone know for certain?

I didn't mean either of the above YG. I was referring, obviously not that clearly, to the Emerald game.

My Predictions for tomorrow:
Mt Evelyn / Woori = Woori but close
Silvan / Olinda = Silvan (Damn it!)
Warby / Monbulk =Monbulk by a land slide
Wandin / Gembrook = Wandin but only just
Upwey / Healsville = Upwey Home ground advantage in the wet

Spot on auskickrules, though not convinced about the Woori/MtEve game and will lean towards the home team. Upwey should take care of the much improved Healesville team. Probably been playing the best footy out of all the challengers at the moment (though Healesville would also be close). Silvan and Monbulk might as well be set in stone and I reckon Wandin must be due for a big win.
Will Clarkey be back from his hamstring? The longer he spends out, the closer Gembrook get to relegation.

Y.G went down 2day to Alex, and they look the side to beat in 2nd Div looking back over the 1st half of the season. Thunder won the 1st qtr but got smashed 7g 2 1 in the 2nd, 3rd qtr was even and the last qtr Y.G won by 2g. Cant remember a closer year in 2nd Div for a long time with a pile up for 3rd thru to 8th on the ladder.

You are a tosser mate.
but for everyone else yeh we got smashed mainly in the last quarter by a younger quicker fitter emerald outfit that play there ground very well. we were undermanned but they had a couple out too so no excuses. maybe the loss we needed cos i wasnt happy with our attitude to training and games so far this year.
The bonershave 2 hard games coming up with the lakers this week and belgrave at belgrave where we lost last year so we need to bounce back to prove we are still the best side.
also congrats to powelly they are much improved as we found out the other week when our boys thought it was goin to be easy. i actually picked them in the tipping too.
Longy hasnt played a game thhis year for junction and is not coach so they arent really loosing anythin from their current side.

I'm more Maid Marion, or more accurately Maid Marion’s friend, than the Merry Men but I'll support the Boners win, loss or draw.
Yesterday was a worry from the start and the day panned out as a repeat of the corresponding 2007 game. Emerald plays their ground very well. Very fast straight down the guts. I was told their oldest player was 21 so they have a good future ahead of them and if they play on other grounds as well as they do on their own they will give the finals a real shake up. Congrats to them.
On to the Boners. Pup won't use excuses but the fact is they had a very depleted team. 2 senior players had a run in the seconds first just to make up numbers for the game to go ahead. They were knackered for their own games as a result. I think 6 players in the firsts were playing their second game for the day.
As for the depth in the Boners seconds that in2rested and cakehole refer to well yesterday was a good example of that theory being more a myth than a reality. Several seconds had to play in the 1s and the results speak for themselves. (Edit-I'm not inferring the loss was their fault) Thornton have a very good, even 22 or so players but the depth drops off dramatically when they're not available, and several of them didn't line up yesterday.
Not saying they aren't good players, potentially or in the past, but none of them train or show any commitment to forcing the senior selectors hands.
As Pup said Emerald had their concerns at the selection table too, so I'm not giving excuses, just stating facts from my perspective.
Best wishes to the Emerald player who injured his leg and was taken away in the Ambulance. Hope it's not too serious.
Finally siriv. As someone who doesn't follow Div 1 I'd appreciate an explanation of the similarities you see in Silvan and Thornton/Eildon other than the fact that they have both been very competitive/successful in the last couple of years.

Yeh those players you mentioned are going well but I hear that Gallichio is out for the year and going by kinglakes results they don't go to well without him. Definitely agree that cowan is a good player as well. I seen alexandra against thornton and Heard was ok but N. Oakley didn't have an influence at all. I think another oakley, adam (brothers??) is a very handy player.
Good call on that one - he only kicked 9 goals yesterday
Congratulations to all involved at the Powelly Footy/Netty Club. Has been a long hard road back for them after a year in recess, but the small band of hard working quality people on the commitees kept on plugging away. Hopefully the wins yesterday will see a few people get back to the club to ensure that this unique little club is around for a few years yet.

was unlucky not to have kicked 10, the 6 and a half year old goal ump got 1 wrong in the last quarter, doesnt matter the lakers are a much better side with GALOOSH back and should prove it this week, t/e seem to be struggling at the moment but are a very good side and would want to bounce back hard. when was the last time they lost 2 in a row?

Galoosh showed what you can do when you keep your feet.
As for the ump, i didn't see you out there!! I'd say it's a pretty daunting job for a young lad, i was impressed by his efforts. i'd much rather the league promote the young umps, than have old fat dudes calling frees from 60 meters away.
As for our side this year, we have only 7 players from last years GF side playing. (and in reply to pupsta's thread on the tipping page) Willo missed this week but played the last couple in the one's. but in saying that more than 90% off our side is home grown (only the coach and assistant are imports).
As for this week, it's a massive one for our club. The big 3MDR radio game in the seniors, and the clash of the underfeated sides in the reserves.
Go BELLY!!!!!

Young Nath O'Keffe has been in the super form. The last 3 games Kinglake, Thornton & Yea he has booted 7. Not bad for a 17 year old. Dunno if he would be the best for us though. Dean Troyan didnt play against you blokes Pup, he was in some pretty good form until he did his hammy. He is ugly and a shit bloke but in my opinion the best player in second divvy.
Galoosh showed what you can do when you keep your feet.
What kind of player is he, apart from a goal scoring machine?
Not sure why but reading posts on this thread I imagined him to be a big, strong presence in the goal square but an Alex player told me over the weekend that he gets a lot of his goals running through the midfield.

Surely it wouldnt be to hard to give 2nd divy a little more credit in the "YVMDFL weekly wrap". Every week they talk about 1 or 2 games then just read the results for the other games.

sorry this may be a little off topic, but i was just wondering: how much insurance do most clubs have for injuries.
e.g. if someone did their ACL should the club's insurance cover it or would the player have to fork out the 7k.
just wanna find out from ppl that might know or have been through it before, or something similar
cheers

I must thank stiflers mum who gave us all a hint as to who NOCHANCE is.
I'm not sure about it being a crap club if it is Humper but he is most certainly good at throwing rocks in glasshouses. Poor bloke, he must be the real heart and soul of his club running around picking up kicks in the Reserves while the Senior blokes bust their guts week in week out.
I actually dont mind the club but #17, build a bridge and do some work in your own backyard rather than try and rubbish everyone else.

If you go to the yarra valley mountain districe website. Look under the secondary links at the insurance section amd then click on the link it should help you. You do need to know what level of coverage your club as taken out.
Mt Evelyn was a big win in Div 1 against Woori. Usually hard to beat at home although dropped a couple early. They will have to be looking at finals the way they are tracking and still have a couple out.
massive win for MT ev - watched upwey v h bloods, oh my oh my - tom hedge - leagues most single important player, turned the game himself - deft taps - strong up forward, a massive massive presence and worth every $$$$ he is getting.
young sammy turner from the h bloods did not like the hard close tag - wonder if other clubs will employ the same tactics and wonder if the h bloods coaching staff will make the NECESSARY adjustments to combat such moves.

I can tell you it is not Humper. It is someone from a club that will stay up, but still making up the numbers. As usual!!! ;)

Seen a good game in divvy 2 on sat. Alex v YG. I can see how n oakley won 2 league bf's he was superb as were alot of his mates on the day. I actually thought that YG would win but alex were a bit too good. And with Thornton going down it gives hope to all below that they can match it with them

I'm definately biased but Hedgey has to be the best big man in the comp at the moment. Very important for us as we don't have a big queue of strong, skilled 6'6" blokes hanging around waiting for their turn to dominate games.
As for Sammy, not sure what game you were watching Toxic, but Sammy wasn't tagged. No offence to Sammy either, I saw him tear it up in the interleague side and know he can play, but on the weekend there was no "hard close tag" to speak of, just the normal attention every onballer gets at stoppages. He just didn't play a blinder. He's a young bloke and consistency will come in time so no doubt he'll bounce back next week.

Was at the Upwey v Healesville game saturday (due to metro bye) and Hedge dominated the game - the one handed screamer he took (but a downfield kick was paid) was the highlight for myself. This is the 2nd game I have seen and he has stood out both times with his marking, reading of play and great tap work. I thought the other ruck 32 did a pretty good job in the middle which allowed Hedgey to stay down forward and cause havoc. Number 3 for Upwey is an absolute gun too, very classy and can slot a goal or 3.
It was quite a good game overall. Healesville lost some drive when 19 went off with an apparent dislocated toe - he had a great first term and had a hand in most of their 8 goals.

I know that your favourites lost 3-0. I also know that you got drunk off one drink and rolled your ankle in a hole dug by your mates mut!!!! :D
Some of you blokes need to get a room :D
In2rested did you watch the Alex reserves game last week? Just wondering if Wayne Haggis played? I was told by one of the Alex heirachy today that he's left the Boners and gone back premiership chasing with Alex. Not sure if he was pulling my leg or not cos he's a bit of a joker. Surely at 38? (or was he pulling my leg there too?) with questionable fitness Shags would just hang up his boots and leave it to the kids.
Can anyone from Olinda tell me whats with all the new recruits from Monbulk

Rosy, didn't see alot of the reserves but pretty shure I didn't see old shaggy out there. I think he's retired is what I heard from the locals last week.
Thanks in2rested. Shaggy played seniors for us (Boners) in the game against Alex this year but I haven't seen him since. I suspect I was having my leg pulled today, even to the point I was told Shags told them he shouldn't have to train at his age. That bit sounded familiar :p

Rosy, Obviously you're a Thornton person and I'm interested to know how many of the outs are expected to come back in this week??? Especially Creed and Hardy as they are 2 massive outs
YV Fan, ring me if you wish re: Monbulk recruits . 0408 104 202mb
Yeah they're massive outs. The Chapman twins and Brett Andrews are other top players who missed.
I wouldn't have a clue who will be back in. At least 1, maybe 2, of the above won't be in for sure, I expect one of them to play and another will have to wait and see how he's travelling at the end of the week. I hope his Mum is making him lots of chicken soup.

your forgetting Cameron Buckland from Mt Evelyn. When on song will not be beaten especially around the ground. Wait for the second round and when they play on each other again at Healesville. :thumbsu:

Didn't forget Buckland GG. I think Hedgey probably has Cam's measure in the centre bounces and is at least on a par around the ground. As I said though, having the chance to stand under Hedgey on game day makes me very biased in his favour, as no doubt supporting Bucko does to you. As you said, should be a very good showdown in 3 weeks time, as these two are definately the inform ruckmen of the comp.

Cam's a superstar!
Cam is good but just not in the same form as Hedgey. If hedgey stays fit Upwey are a massive chance.
As for number 3 from Upwey, just a running half back who runs the lines well and plays a role, plenty of them in the league andn it is easy to do when the opposition have 18+ men in your attacking half.
If sammy turner wasn't tagged then his opponent had a man crush on him, you would not play that close on Elle Mcpherson.
Big game for Upwey v Silvan this week, anyone got any thoughts as to who and by how much?

Sorry to say Silvan by a long shot toxic, while on the topic of hedgey his got a tough day against dave bissels, probably one player underestimated in this big man talk.

Actually, the Pupsta was an excellent division one full forward at Gembrook in 2001 before the untimely knee injury that he suffered against Belgrave in round 10 at the southern end of the Gembrook ground in the forward pocket on the outer side.

Hedge is a great player and certainly good at both centre and field bounces but I would have Buckland ahead of him - mobile, strong and certainly probably a bit more flexible in relation to what position he can be used in.
Both great players and not much between them.

third i played juniors against and interleague with tommy hedge and thought he was great and he has only improved from then. have never seen buckland play so how can i comment.
