Positives

Better ball movement up the corridor.
Edwards, McCleod, Thommo, Goodwin, Knights - all terrific tonight.
Shirley - Black not a major infleunce
Rutten, Bassett up back.
Griffen - up forward
Welsh - much better this week
Doughty's form - but it needed to be.
Mattner - better decisions this week on the whole. Looked to handball more than try to take on players.
Huddo - gee he worked his guts out tonight.
Stevo -except for one or two skill errors he played well tonight. Gave our defence a more balanced look.
2 tackes to the walls and some good moments when he had the ball. He shoudl take some confidence out of the game.
Craigs move of Griffen forward and Stevo back.
Our intensity and willingness to run.

Neutrals
Perries hands and decision making at key times. He does provide a contest in the air though - which is more than the other forwards often do.
Torney - better as the game went on.
Birdman - still playing injured but played more of a team orientated game this week. Looked a little freer.

Negatives
Some poor field kicking
Bocks form
Two youngsters who were indecisive and fumbled tonight - Douglas and Vince. Vince needed to play well tonight and struggled. Douglas' decisiona making was poor tonight.
Goal umpiring errors - I counted 3 howlers.
Out tackling - we missed a number of tackles tonight.

Looks about right. Just on Douglas and Vince, how do you see their development? I mean they show flashes of brilliance but ultimately haven't been able to stamp their influence on a game yet. Is it a game time thing in your opinion, do they need a couple of weeks in the SANFL to get their confidence right up?

They've played what, 15-20 games between them tops? Personally I see a lot of upside to them but we're all still hanging out for the breakout game.

Negatives

Out tackling - we missed a number of tackles tonight.

Spot on - particularly in the first half. It did improve a bit in the 2nd half, but not up to our past standards.

Too many tackles with the hands and not the arms.

We haven't been really on in this area in recent weeks.

One negative I noticed that I thought as the game wore on might hurt was the amount of times we lost out to 50/50 balls on the ground.

The lions seemed stronger or more desperate when the ball hit the deck.

I took it early as a bad sign but we got over it through our pressure, but it was very noticable to me anyway.

The positives far outweighed that though.

In another thread jo said it well when he said they probably needed some time back in the SANFL to get some confidence back as happened to Knighter last year.

Both are good prospects but just need more game time to get up to speed.

Vince as someone else picked up needs to work on his ball drop whcih is exagggerated and means he often gets caught with the ball. He also needs to work on his core strength to get away from tackles that currently stop him in his tracks.

Vince is a worry at times.

Just when you think he will make a statement he lets himself down a bit with poor skill or decision making. I dont think he has quite picked up the tempo of AFL yet.

I hope he does soon.

Impressed by Brisbanes stoppage work.

It appeared they broke away cleaner from stoppages than anyone else has against us this year.

There ability to break or handle our tackles reminded me of West Coasts second half in last years pre -Lim.

Still we won by 5 goals away when most tipped us to lose.

He's hard to read, but that disallowed goal utterly oozed class. I have no doubt he'll put it together in time. From a stats perspective he and Dougie had quiet nights (Douglas 9 disposals, Vince 10). Imo a lot of it has to do with the fact that he's come from country footy to bits and pieces of SANFL to AFL, without a ton of overall elite footy experience so he will probably take a bit longer than the others to blossom.

On the plus side Jericho wasn't too bad tonight and has maybe, just maybe, got a good chance of getting a guernsey against the Tigers.

he must have done alright considering the utter silence in terms of his performance - i would have thought not bad for first game in 1 and 1/2 years.

the pick up and give to knights in fron of goals was pretty impressive.

He had a reasonable game and didn't noticably pike the contest which is why there isn't a lot to talk about - one way or the other.

Haven't seen the game yet but his stats are 15 touches, 8 marks and 2 points. Pretty good effort I would have thought ... should either of the points been goals?

probably one should have.

but when he got room and delivered the ball all but one (his 2nd kick was shocker) of his kicks were pretty much on the money.

Jericho along with the other crows kicks to the point of the square where super impressive, if we had a crumber they would have kicked 1o tonight

Both of them are contributing.

Knights looks like he is going to be a superstar, but 10 odd possessions each for Vince/Dougie isn't a bad return at all; not everyone can be a star in their first real season.

Knights is looking awesome though, ball magnet and disposal is definitely improving every week.

Big Griff looks like he's a forward; just his confidence in his marking ability, kicking and he loves running with the ball.

Jericho was actually quite good; showed enough to keep his spot; but with Roo coming back it'll be interesting.

Technically, Jericho should be dropped for Roo, but I suspect that either Douglas or Vince will go - they both definitely have a future with out club; Jericho needs more game time so we know where we stand at years end.

Summed everything up perfectly imo.

For sure. As well as having the ability to win the ball in uncontested situations, his contested ball winning ability is sensational.

Disposal was 1st rate tonight.

Big Griff looks like he's a forward; just his confidence in his marking ability, kicking and he loves running with the ball.

I love the way he plays. Definitely a forward option IMO. Meesen and Maric palming it down to Knight rider drilling it on the chest of Griffin and Sellar. :) He's incredibly dangerous up forward currently, imagine when we get some meat on him. Special, special prospect.

Jericho was actually quite good; showed enough to keep his spot; but with Roo coming back it'll be interesting.

He wasn't too bad, I thought he missed the target a few times early, but he got better. Probably did enough to reatin his place, but with Roo, Radar and Porps perhaps returning who knows ???

He was ok... sprayed his second kick but his pass to Welsh a few moments later was gold...and Brick hands dropped it

Ive just said in the other thread he was a 6...good without flashing ,solid, reliable and not too bad

Reminds me of PC at North Pines CC...when asked why he was struggling in D grade fired back ''because they are too crap for me'' ... played A grade and starred

I'm very happy with the win and even happier we have consolidated our place in the eight. I know its only May but I'll take 4 - 3 (unlucky not to be 5 - 2). A few other clubs would love to be in our spot.

I think it's great that when Roo returns, he will be playing in a top eight side that's looking to improve. I think by keeping the spot in the eight its taken some pressure off him - he now just has to get match fit.

If we were battling to make the eight, some people may expect much more of him when he does return.

I hope he plays on Friday!

He seemed to be on his own a lot, was he actually standing anyone?

Was anyone actually standing him??? Brisbane paid him no respect at all and he was able to get free easily.
