Well done to the boys on a tops four quarter effort today.
I was impressed with Blakes game and wanted to get the board's opinion on his efforts today.
It was very encouraging to see him taking players on and, on occasion, actually demanding the footy.
His poor kicking for goal aside, I thought today was another good step forward for him. His tapwork was pretty damn good, and he looked like he has gained in confidence yet again. I think we've unearthed a gem in Blakey, who will be very dangerous in a few years time when he's developed more.
The kid has some serious upside

I was about to post the same thing. Loved his game - will really come in handy while King is injured/out of form. Its great to have that depth when it comes to ruckman, as good ones are very hard to find.

Go Blake!:thumbsu:

Just needs to improve his kicking and he should development into a good ruckman.

On form he is our best ruckman at the moment although Ottens came good in the second half in a big way. Blake's tap work is as good as anyone going round at the moment IF he improves the finer points of his game he'll be a star of the afl in the next few years.

I reckon King's a handy backup for Blake.

You'd think King would come in for Hawkins at some stage allowing Ottens to play up forward for the majority of a game. Who knows what will happen though...

Seemed to start struggling a bit in the last quarter and was pushed forward as a result. Still, the fact he had just four less hitouts than both WCE ruckman combined says it all. Is going to be an absolute stalwart of the club.

still has a way to go to be a complete ruckman. Needs to be able to kick goals and be more than a one trick pony. But he is heading in the right direction that's for sure. He was also lucky Cox wasn't playing. It will be interesting to see him up against Sandilands next week.

They went off at the other end of the ground when his mongrel kick wobbled towards the goal and hit the post - bloke behind me accidentally thumped me in the back of the head, raising the fist thinking it was his first goal! Blakey has become one of the most popular players with the crowd - and deserves his popularity.

And the bandwagon rolls on...

Seriously though, I've made my thoughts on Blakey known in the many other weekly threads that seem to be popping up on the lad these days. In summation: given time, he'll be something.

Blakey seems to have the knack of being able to concentrate on directing the ball with his tap even when hes getting smashed into/upended/pushed and jumped on. Thats the differency between a ruckman and a normal tall.

funny, people were say Dean Cox was a good backup for Gardinder 5 years ago!
And that Charman was a good backup for Beau McDonald.
