Punter!

I'm not an Adelaide supporter but was keen to know why simon goodwin hasn't seemed to have carried on from his exceptional season last year? He seems more inconsistent this year.
Is it because of his round one injury?
Is he being tagged more heavily?
Has his role in the team changed from last year??
Or am i expecting too much from him too soon?
Just wanted an informed view from adelaide supporters.
Cheers :)
For the first 5 weeks he played away from the midfield, giving the youngsters a run in there. Also was carrying an injury, which seemes to have improved.
You'll find that his last 2 games have actually been very good.

He is just warming up Punter. Don't worry about Goody, the best is yet to come.

If he isn't carrying an injury it seems strange for him to be spending time in defence or tagging - he was such a prolific ball winner last year.
Hopefully he's starting back on the ball and his performance against brisbane will propel him back into good form.
Also, I like seeing ricciuto play, hope his back injury isn't career threatening, it would be such a shame to see a stalwart of the afl succumb indefinitely to injury.
Go Roo!

Punter, if you think that Goody is not effective as a tagger I hate to remind you of what he did to Dal Santo at the game last year at the Telestra Dome. Not only did he shut him down effectively but he was so damaging himself. His game on Kirk this year was great, took one of Sydney's most damaging players out of the game.
Goodwin and Edwards have been playing more outside of the midfield at the centre bounces this year so that our younger players can get more time in there, Reilly, Thompson, Knights have really come along nicely with the greater exposure in the midfield.

It's all in the coach's long term plan... play Goody and Edwards in the mid-field when it's really needed - ala Brisbane (and they tore Brisbane apart), but give the youngens a really good run in there to get a feel for the pace and requirements of AFL. Don't worry about Goody, he's just hitting his straps!:D
