The agoniser have reported that Thomson has said that Chappy may be right to play this week. I hope the medical team at catland know what they are doing as I would hate Chappy to go down with a long term injury at this time of the year. IMHO give him one more week to be 100% sure. Thoughts?

It's only Fremantle. Rest him.

It was reported during the Richmond game that he had strained a hamstring, he then came back on and kick a goal.
Why if we were 15 goals up would they risk further damage by bringing him back on.
Give chappy another weeks rest, play harley in the 2's and promote Rooke and give Selwood a weeks rest.

Yeah, but thats the trouble with our team in the past - not giving due respect to all teams. See Kangaroos game as an example of this. If he's right then play him - if Freo roll us this week just wait for the flood of people having a go again.

while Chappy is an important member of the squad, I disagree with you in the sense that we have enough depth to cover him for this game. I would really love to have him cherry ripe for the Port game at AAMI because we will really need his toughness then. No disrespect to Freo meant.

Yeah, we might have depth but saying 'it's just Fremantle' implies we are going to have an easy game. They're the games we lose and then all credibility goes out the window.
I just hope the boys have turned the corner now and show the intensity they did last week much more often. Coming out and smashing Freo will go a long way to show they're still fair dinkum.

Yeah agree with you there. We do lose games we should win. Due to lack of respect for the opposition it would seem.
Treat every game as if it's as important as the other.
If Chappy's fit bring him back.
If he needs another week then so be it.

I honestly believe the Cats wont be going easy this weekend. Talk around the club has been along the lines of.."We have to come out each week and play with same intensity as we have the last few weeks"
For the record I never said it was going to be an easy game or even implied it.
I will leave the selection to the Selection Committee and medical experts at the club.

I think we turned the corner in the last term last week, after the Eagles came at us and we kicked on and got the last three goals. Geelong in the past, particularly last year, would've just rolled over and got done. Guess time will tell though.

Agree. If his close to good to go, give him a qtr or half in the VFL.
Keep Stokes and Varcoe, drop Tenace and bring in Rooke.
Leave everything else as is and then rest Selwood and Tommahawk for the AAMI clash with Port. (bringing in Harley and Chapman)

If chapman is close to good to go WTF would you play your best and fairest in the VFL. He either plays in the seniors or not at all.

Would rather Chappy get injured playing with the seniors (obviously I would prefer he didn't get injured) rather than the magoos, either he plays 1's or don't play. He doesn't need a quater in the two's

Yea I dont understand the thinking behind it hey
Only makes sense to bring a player clearly in your best 22 back through the VFL if they're coming back from a long term injury and they need some game time to get match fitness and form back. A 1-2 week injury won't require that. He'll play seniors or not at all. I agree that if he's anything less than 100%, he should not be risked (VFL or AFL) at this time of the season.

No offence to the Dockers, but we beat the reigning Premiers and undefeated ladder leaders (flogged actually) without him, and if the same team and the same intensity runs out this weekend, we dont need him risking an early return.
Or is that too logical for anyone West of Mt Gambier??
Rest him if there is the SLIGHTEST doubt........

If he is not 100% then dont play him. He is your best and fairest and pretty important to you so if he came back too early an re-injured himself he could miss a lot more than thhe fremantle game.

I'm not saying they should play him if he's not fully over his injury. What I'm saying is they shouldn't not play him 'just' because it's the Dockers we're playing. To me it's simple:
If he's fit play him.
If he's not then dont.
This should apply if we're playing the Dockers or anyone else.

Yep. Either rest him completely or play him in the one's. That's where he needs to play. He doesn't need to regain match fitness.
He had better be 100% if he plays, though. We'll be spewing all over the board if he re-injures himself even worse than he already was.

Pretty ordinary post yourself, Brew.
I am not normally over confident with my views on the Cats, but at the moment I find it hard to contain myself.
IF the same team with the same intensity runs out this weekend, the Cats will belt the living daylights out of Freo.
For us Geelong supporters we have to wait and see IF that mindset can be reproduced by the boys.
You Docker supporters have got to sit around and hope like hell that it can't be.
