Just wondering who people think is the better player and most likely to go higher in the draft at this early stage of the year?

I'm pretty sure Cotchin has only played 1 game so far this year for the Knights and Grimes has featured in the best players in almost every game hes played in.

Also interested in how the two of them work with Kreuzer in the ruck for the Knights? and if one of them seem to be able to benefit more and work better with Kreuzer than they other?

cheers

Love them both and each will go high, but Cotchin for me. Great mark for a mid-fielder, excellent when moved forward and explosive. Has that x-factor.

It seems Cotchin is all the talk for mids right now, will be interesting come draft time. We need a Mojo around here.

He may not even be the best of the mids, but as a Carlton man I think he would complement Gibbs and Murphy the best of this years crop.

If you guys got him it would be the steal of the century.

I take it that by mentioning Kreuzer with these blokes you are not too confident on Carlton's season. The best bet, if you win few enough games to qualify for the priority selection, is to take Kruezer with pick 1, and then depending on which other pick you have, likely to be either 2, 3, or 4, take either Cotchin, Grimes, or Masten who are by far the three best midfielders in the draft. Who you take may depend on us and Richmond.

Hawkins was gift wrapped, Cotchin won't be.

Cotchin is clearly more highly rated, however, I think we will know for certain after the champs.

I wouldn't say clearly, have you seen Grimes play. He will captain a club one day. Outstanding player and kid as is Cotchin, but will be early considerations for both at draft time

Grimes is a centre-square ruck-rover who tends to do his best work in tight. More of a Jordan Lewis type player. He has plenty going for him and is more valuable to the Knights than almost anyone else - unfortunately he is not a great kick which should see him drop out of the top 10. Also the genuine ruck rovers (eg Hurn) tend to drop down the order on draft day. They are not highlt 'priced'. Grimes shapes as a centre-square grunt.

Cotchin would probably go before him. Clubs want those guys with skills who can carry the football and break-up games. Cotchin is more a Murphy-type. Not a lot of size, good skills and flair.

Compared to Cotchin I would say Grime isn't a great kick (Cotchin rarely misses a target) But compared to the other players in the draft pool Grimes kicking is fine. I think what some people underestimate is some players abilty to hit targets over long distances, lets call them zone busters. Jack does this very well and I doubt he won't be a top ten selection, we'll see.
