With the likelihood of Max returning this week (if not, then next week), and with him being such a vital cog in the team, and having had a superb finish to the 06 season, we need to make sure we don't expect him to come back in and play the same as he was then.
Sure, he's looked good in the VFL, but it will take him a while to get back to the hardness and intuition that made him so effective last year.

How long do you expect it to take for him to get back to his best?
IMO about 6 weeks... then again, the second half of the year will be awesome!:thumbsu:

Wouldn't be surprised if he comes back in and is effective straight away. You don't need time to get back your hardness. In fact, you'd think he'd be itching to get back in. The more likely scenario is that he'll be a bit rusty for a week or two...

I wasn't meaning he wasn't going to be hard at it straight away. More about the execution of that hardness. There's a big difference between being hard at it and giving away lots of free kicks or injuring yourself, and being effective by timing your hits to perfection and having that intuition of where to be and when. That I think will come after a few weeks back.
He'll be hungry straight away no doubt, but what I'm talking about (and what you might be referring to by 'rusty') may take a few weeks.
Can't wait.:thumbsu:

Agree. We have seen in the past (as in first game of the season) how he does take a little time to warm up and get the "feel" of the action. Though due to predicted inclement weather, I think it will enable him to do what comes natural and do it well (hard, in and under stuff). So once it gets dry again he will be cherry ripe.

He's done well to come back from his hamstring troubles, which are much more serious than believed to be as they were linked to his car crash in the off-season.

Hmm, don't say that quite yet. I said that abot Stevie Johnson, and i was proved to be an idiot in that regard.
Hopefully he's effective on field. And anyone know who he's matched up with?
I missed that bit on AFL Teams on Fox.
