Geelong: B: J Hunt, Harley, Callan. HB: S Hunt, Spencer, Owen. C: Davenport, Byrne, Byrnes. HF: Gardiner, Playfair, Gamble. F: West, Hawkins, Grima. R: King, Prismall, Read. Int: Mumford, Firman, Cheep, N Butler, Urie, Couch, Bedford, Hogan.

The full back line and ruck is almost AFL standard forward line is gret for vfl BUT why no djidi?

that team should smash any VFL team it comes up against

What a half forward line! It'll be great, ball comes in, Charlie and Henry both fall over, Gamble picks it up and snaps the goal!

Just goes to show the depth we currently have at the moment with so few injuries. That VFL team is pretty imposing and should cause Box Hill a lot of headaches this weekend.

I daresay a 10 goal plus win is on the cards (hopefully replicated in the ones!).

Final score...

Box Hill 14.7.91
Geelong 9.22.76

:(

How did we lose that game? Really should have won it... convincingly. 22 behinds, that sound terrible.

Goal kickers? Did Hawkins play or was he completely rested from football this round?

Think you guys may have underestimated the side we had out there.

Vandenberg, Jacobs, were playing and young guns Ellis, Thorp and Muston were playing as well.

We are not under-estimating anyone, that scorecard paints the picture perfectly. Our kicking for goal is what lost us the game, not your "young guns"

Rizzo's VFL review

Bedford -
Bedders moved off a wing and floated on a HBF for a little bit. Like the way he played. Has pretty damn good disposal and looks to continue his development.

Byrnes -
This best describes him: "Byrnes ducks around 1, sprints away and around another lines up the big sticks directly in front and MISSES from 20 out." Done well to get the ball. But finishing is terrible.

Callan -
I liked how he played today. Gives Geelong so much run off HB. He has so much courage. I really hope he gets a crack. Hes so much better then many think.

Davenport -
Ran really well. Got a bit of the ball. He tended to drift out a little bit. Sets the ball up well.

Gamble -
He is really regaining some form that saw him play senior footy last year. Present well up the ground. Really like the way he is developing. Will be a super player.

Gardiner -
He went ok. Really didnt stand out for me TBH. His decision making is so frustrating.

Grima -
Conditions didn't suit him. The swirly wind made it hard to a target to get onto it. But he did well to kick a couple.

Harley -
Good comeback. Needs another week to make sure he is right to go. Will slot back in though.

Hawkins -
Conditions really didnt suit him either. Played a lot at CHF and lead up the ground a lot. He will make it (;) )

Hogan -
Still skrawny. There seems to be to many at the cats. I cant see him breaking into the team for atleast a few years. needs to put on weight.

S. Hunt -
Creates so much run. Did it again today! His disposal was really good. Kicked a goal to!

Owen -
Has made the backline his own now. He was pretty solid contributor of HB. Wouldnt be surprised if we see him mold into a milburn type player.

Playfair -
Solid again at FB. Did well.

Prissa -
Again above VFL level. His disposal and attack at the footy was second to none!

Spencer -
Poor bloke has missed his generation of football. Would be good on the slow fullbacks. However that game has gone and so will he.

West -
Looks a lot better player without king in the team. He really is coming a long at a rate of knots. Go westy!

Thats the worst performance i've seen the Cats play in 2 years, woeful at best and should have smashed Box Hill by 7 or 8 goals, terrible kicking and absolutely no desperation at all.

Terrible game to watch

What about Prismall, Booerns :D , Harley, Hawkins, Gardiner, etc.

Pretty good line-up, i guess they had their chances today.

In fareness at the time the prediction was made we were expecting King, Josh Hunt, Harley and possibly Chapman to be out there.

That's an AFL Captain, AA Ruckmen, solid senior defender and one of the AFL best small forwards.

Prismall, Hawkins and Grima should have been a match for your young guns. But more importantly I think the weak players in that VFL team are very good players in there own right.

That is a massive win for Box Hill. Well done

Can't remember the exact details, but he turned it over at one stage which resulted in a Box Hill goal. Works so hard to get the ball but then messes it up.

He hasn't been utilising his speed as much as he should either.

From the VFL site:
Geelong
Goal Kickers: T. Grima 2, S. Hunt, J. Cheep, C. Gardiner, M. Spencer, P. Read, S. Hogan, J. Davenport
Best Players: T. Callan, S. Hunt, B. Prismall, T. Harley, P. Read, S. Owen

Box Hill Hawks
Goal Kickers: M. Thorp 6, K. Shore 2, X. Ellis 2, M. Ball, R. Vandenberg, B. Muston, G. Moss
Best Players: N. Smith, K. Height, M. Thorp, Z. Dawson, M. Ball, S. Daniher

Mitch Thorp is a gun.
I was hoping to get him at pick 7, not that I'm unhappy with Selwood of course.
I think Playfair was playing on him untill they had to move H up forward which meant Grima got to play on a former teammate (i think.) They both played for the Northern Bombers in Tassie right?

Good summary from rizzo - agree with almost all - windy conditions - so what? We know the strange swirling bits of the ground and they did not - but the Hawks looked as though they wanted to win and we didn't. Byrnes is a ball magnet - I wish he could kick! Always tries to do the impossible - if he steadied a few times he would have had us back in front a couple of times - then we just rolled over.

This atrocious - I knew we were 3.15 at one stage and we stopped counting behinds for a while. 4.21 !!!
Henry was injured - Charlie G looked proppy - could have made a difference. Hawks were much more accurate in kicking to a target - we kicked blindly - in the hope that ... It didn't come off. Deathly silence as they came off the ground - at least the crowd didn't clap them off!

Agree, I just don't understand the concept of resting the young blokes by playing them full games in the Vfl,defeats the whole purpose of not wearing their bodies down with workloads.

Could someone who was there manage a brief snippet regarding our better performers?

Tom Harley got through the VFL unscathed according to the VFL match report on the GFC site here (http://gfc.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArticle/tabid/3933/Default.aspx?newsId=43514).
