I don't think the Waugh brothers will be back now that they have both been dropped from the one-day side.

I would have to agree with Kretchy on this one. I think the way the selectors are leaning towards is having a middle order of Ponting, Lehmann and Bevan, Hayden to anchor the innings at the top of the order and Gilchrist looks like also opening the batting even though his form was a little bit down in the one-day series in South Africa.
I still think there's room for much improvement though. I'm not convinced Damien Martyn is able to rotate the strike in the middle of the innings quick enough, but there's plenty of time to get it right.

The all-rounder position is also the place where we still need to do a lot of improvement as well.
