To see Josh Hunt get a game when Mackie didn't get up. From all accounts he was dropped because he wasn't doing what was asked of him, and hadn't looked good in the VFL since. Thought Prismall would have been the man to get the call up.

That said, Hunt played a great game. Very happy to see him used up the ground more where he can take more chances and try and create, and his defensive side won't get found out so easily (Bomber's been reading our board again!!). His tackling and pressure was also great, especially in the first qtr.

Is it enough to keep his spot next week? I think probably so. But Prismall is probably the unluckiest guy in football at the moment. What does he have to do to get a game?

Thought hunt was very good today. Really didn't deserve the spot considering his VFL form though. Probably doesnt deserve to be dropped again. however if mackie comes up he will be

Yep, Hunt wasn't too bad. But why does he insist on spoiling the ball as hard as he can when he can mark?

I thought Geelong took a huge risk playing a woefully out of form player. But, the gamble played off because Hunt played like the club would have hoped. Good on them both.

agreed, Hunt came out and played exactly like you want. Trying to take advantage of his opportunity to remind the selectors he can play. Good on him I was proud of him. It underscores just how badly our players want to play in the AFL squad which is heartening.

Josh Hunts effort v Freo showed the value of dropping players who are not going at 100%. He played like his football life depended on it and looked good ( I didn't think I would be saying that about Hunt).

Add Steve Johnson and even Kelly (suspension saved him from his turn in the 2's) to that and you can see that when the hard decisions are made the players come to the point where they know only 100% will do. King may be next.

It also allows others to show what they can do. for example Tenace (who would usually have been dropped after one modest effort) showed plenty as well.

No more favourites please Bomber. Only hard attack at the ball and good form gets the gig.:thumbsu:
