yeah davey did over react but seriously you never know with the tribunal these days he could end up getting 3 weeks for it they have absolutely no idea what so ever may as well pay chimps to do there job they are that useless but that would be insulting chimps inteligence

Probably not, but i have to say Merrett really impressed me yesterday had very little help from the rest of the team because of how quick we let essendon rebound but 9/10 would win the marking contest against Lloyd but the greater amount of essendon players around the ball would win out!

If only one thing he needs to work on is when he spoils he could get a little distance!

If it actually got him, hard to tell with the angle, it was not in the head. The guy went down like he had been shot though, which never goes down well.

It was interesting to see shortly after that passage of play Merrett re inacted the acting by Davey by falling to the ground after being brushed by a Bombers player. Says it all.

Could be in trouble as his elbow appeared to leave the body, but Davies got straight back up so I would hope <100 points and a repremand.

Probably deserves a reprimand if anything given it was after Davey had kicked a goal. He didn't hit him that hard, Davey went down like he did because Merrett's twice his size more than the force of the hit.

i hope not from a lions point of view, but it was cheap and un necessary. deserves a week the way the game is played these days (uncontested), and was cheap shot at a good young player.

Sitting right behind Merrett when the so called incident happened I believe the contact was light at the most. It was simply Davey's response that exaggerated the incident.

If Merrett gets a week for that then Lloyd should get a month for over-acting for that ridiculous swan dive when Big Red didn't even touch him.

After all these years, the Umps still fall for Lloyd's diving.:thumbsd:

True....Davey was playing for another kick in front of goal.

To be fair to both players:

Merrett - There was not much in it, was pure frustration, I would be surprised and dissapointed if he got suspended.

Davey - I reckon it would have hurt him, soemtimes a whack can look innocuos but still be painful, and he is half the size.

As I stated above, i don't think he should be suspended, at best a shot at goal if his kick had missed.

On another matter, was anyone else frustrated by the interpretation of the holding the ball rule, it seemed like they missed alot for both teams. I for one like to see the tackler rewarded.

Yeah, definitely. There was even one decision where our player (cant remember who) got tackled and sling but got the handball out but was pinned. ??? Then there were other instances where players would get tackled and nothing.

What really irritates me is the calls for ball as soon as a player is tackled when they obviously havent had a chance to get proper possession or take two steps! Then you get morons in the crowd that start to lose the plot and complain because no free kick was given!!! Get a clue!

Watching the Hawks vs Saints game i saw the holding the ball rule called then not called for exactly the same instances.

The umpires need to get it straight and keep it consistent. Thats all we ask.
