Which player was called at late notice from a drinking session at the Junction Oval in the early 1980’s to represent Fitzroy in a handball competition at Channel 7’s World Of Sport?
There are quite a few options here.

Not Rendell, Irwin or McMahon. He wasn't as well-known as those blokes, but was quite a useful forward.

Not Sidebottom, Beecroft, Dwyer or Murnane. He joined Fitzroy from East Doncaster, but later played at North Adelaide under Mick Nunan, after a knee injury cut short his VFL career.

Not Everett or Keays. This guy was seen watching quite a few Fitzroy games in 1996, when his old mentor, Mick Nunan was coaching.

I saw Hafey watch a few, but he never played for the Roys!
Umm Brockhurst? Lokan?
I'm sorry what was the question again? :D

I'm out of gas. Spent late last night going thru my books, North Adelaide website and the FFC site. Wish I'd kept all my year books which listed where players came from. One last try, Kevin Taylor.

Not Hafey, Brockhurst, Lokan or Taylor. He was a forward for Fitzroy, when Robert Walls was coaching. He was originally recruited from East Doncaster. His VFL career was cut short by a knee injury. Then he moved to North Adelaide, where he was coached by Mick Nunan.
And apparently he was performing much better in the drinking session at the Junction Oval than he did in the handball at World of Sport.
I thought someone would have guessed by now. More clues this afternoon, if no-one's guessed it by then.

Michael Poynton....

Michael Poynton.... Correct. Michael Poynton was the man. His more senior teammates "volunteered" him for the job & then laughed as they watched his feeble performance on tv. Even Walls had a laugh about it later on. Well done junction oval & thanks to everyone else who had a guess.
