I was driving along Punt Rd earlier this week and noticed that the ground is looking a treat. The recent rains in Melbourne have really helped to put some green into sporting grounds and parks.

But I was a little worried about some of the other plants surounding the area.
Tiger fans, now that Wallet is closing in on a 0-10 start to the season on his way to 0-22, if any of you guys need some pointers on where there is good manure available, I'df be happy to supply some links to nurseries near Punt Rd.
I'm here to help :)

Good effort, though one thing to remember when attempting comedy, probably the most important thing actually, which you've overlooked, is it has to be humourous.

You're not Wil Anderson by any chance?

If you're keen on comedy, then head down to the Tuesdays with Terry press conferences.
You'll get a dose of humour and manure at the same time

Just when will Carlton get sick of false dawns. 2-1 after 3 rounds 2-6 after 8, just how many number 1 picks will it take the Blues to finally get out of the bottom 4 and make progress?

Maybe they should have a Payday for Pagan press conference, wheel him out in front of the media every day, so he might earn his ridiclously over inflated contract. Would work out to $2,740 per press conference!

Pretty safe to say that the Blues will be going better that the Tigers.. (and most probably the Dons also)

It does not look too good. Judging by their current 5 game losing streak and conceding more points than the Tigers (1009 - 985) who had 222 kicked against them in a single game. Neither team is going to win many games conceding 126 points(Carltons) or 123 (Richmond) a game.

Give Richmond an average score against (say 130) for the Cats game and it is clear the Blues have the worse backline in the AFL.

Thats nothing i was down at Freo Oval on Sunday and they had a band playing the Freo players were out dancing and singing with all ( 36 of there supports and Family).Pav got up and thanked the Crowd ( all 36 ) for their support said he hoped that the Dorks would get up and only lose by a few points this week.
CC then said that his team is still Young and Developing and maybe in 2025 they will have Fully Developed into the Football Force he has been promising for sooooo loooong.
I was so touched i have joined the Dorks they now have 37 supporters:thumbsu:
Thanks Freo for bringing back the Fun in Sport when Winning is not Important and coming second is OK:D

No, I think watching Deledio and co trying to run the ball out of defense in that last quarter, it was pretty clear to me who has the worst backline.
Here's a tip: It isn't Carlton.

Perhaps looking at it from this point of view might help you get what I mean:

Carlton have had the following kicked against them this year.
Round 1 - 98, Round 2 - 162, Round 3 - 122, Round 4 - 100, Round 5 - 136, Round 6 - 125, Round 7 - 119 & Round 8 - 147

Richmond have had the following: Round 1 - 115, Round 2 - 88, Round 3 - 115, Round 4 - 132, Round 5 - 99, Round 6 - 222, Round 7 - 115 & Round 8 - 99.

Clearly if you exclude the horror that was the Cats game our backline has not been too bad considering the lack of experience playing down back even when Gaspar was there. Carlton has consistenly had 120 scored against them despite having a number of experienced backmen playing for them.

I got what you meant, but I think you are clutching at straws.

Credit to you guys for staying close on Friday, I turned off after 5 minutes expecting an even bigger loss for you than the Geelong game.
Still, I don't think the worth of a backline can be judged on the numbers alone*. Nor do I think a claim like "our backline has been good if you just ignore the Geelong game" has any merit.
And who exactly are Carlton's experienced backmen? Old man Thornton?
Also, didn't Joel Bowden get picked as All-Australian CHB?

*edit - number of wins can be an indicator.

Players like Scotland, Whitnall, Thornton, Lappin, Houlihan, Saddington are all 100 gamers that have played down back for the Blues on a consistent basis. Compared to Bowden & Gaspar who were the only 2 with more than 100 games playing down there. Newman is near 100, Polak near 80 odd while the rest have pretty much been the kids gaining experience like Deledio, McGuane, Raines, Moore & King. Not forgetting Thursfield who just came back and we are pretty light on for experienced heads down back to lead the way.

I also understand the Blues have had O'hAilpin, Gibbs, Bower, Walker as regular defenders as well. But the old heads that they have should be doing more than just looking after the stats each week and playing a bit more accountable footy.
