hey guys started a similar thread on the Eagles board and was curious as to who you will play on our guys come Saturday.

Post who you think will play on some of our players and why yuo think they will get the job as i would be interested to see your thoughts.

Should be a good game regardless, will be another test of the Eagles depth and the Hawks will have a point to prove.

I think you will find Glass on Boyle/Roughead and Hunter to get the other one. Don't be surprised to see Brett Jones line up on Buddy as he's probably our best match up for him interms of overhead ability and speed. Franklin would be too nimble for Glass.

I'm personally hoping that Croad starts up forward and attracts either one of Hunter or Glass from Buddy, Roughie and Boyle.

But you're right, Jones could end up being a good match-up on Buddy - but does he have the motor to run with Buddy around the ground?

Im thinking of putting a bit of money on you blokes this week. I got a good feeling and think some of the match ups are in your favour(this is my opinion and means you will almost certainly win).

Yeah Bones has a pretty good motor which is one of the reason he would be a good match up for Buddy. Bones could also be used to hurt Buddy going the other way with some of his run off the back line

We have two options for Judd.

We can back Sewell in if we rate his closing ability that much and give him the toughest tagging job in the comp, or play Crawford on him to run the other way to do some damage and try to make Judd a bit more accountable. Crawf I think has done this before and came out on top a couple of seasons back in Tassie.

Croad to Lynch. Big strong body, need another one on him. Gilham on Hansen, Jacobs will play loose to help out, not sure who Brown will take yet, may get a more attacking role this weekend, Clarkson likes to throw him forward on occasions to throw the oppositions structure out.

Glass will play on Boyle I imagine. Hunter on Roughead. That leaves Chick on Dixon, maybe Jones as suggested on Buddy... not too sure.

Fletcher may go to Mitchell in the middle.

McGlynn may look after Braun.

I still respect West Coast's midfield despite their injuries, but we can't go in too defensively. If we are to win we've got to back our inside mids to get their hands on the ball first in Lewis, Sewell, McGlynn, Mitchell etc and try to get some quick ball into our three talls down our forward line. I don't think we want to take West Coast on in a defensive game which gives them the ball too often because they use it too well.

And haven't we heard enough about the defensive game to last a lifetime?

In any case I am looking forward to it big time - a chance to really test ourselves and see where we are up against the yardstick, just a shame WC aren't at full strength.

I've got no problem in using our defensive game at times to hold the opposition then attack once we've tired them out if it works.

I get a little sick of the big deal made about it, but in the end if it works we'll be the ones laughing at the end of the day.

I just don't think this is the week to use it, we need to win the midfield not nulify their forwards.

Lynch - I would like to see Croad on him, Croad is really our only possibility to be a long term FB (IMO) so for him to consistantly play there is my preference.

Hansen - Brown or Gilham, if Staker is up forward i think Gilham will take him. This could be thrown open if Jacobs plays.

Judd - Sewell is the man.

Braun/Rosa/Priddis - Not a match up per se, but i think their midfield is still very strong.

Our forward line:

Roughead - Glass
Boyle - Hunter

Could be vice versa

Franklin - Jones

I dont think you have the talls to play Glass/Hunter away from our 2 forwards.

Judd- Sewell(has to get first crack)
Jones-Franklin
Glass- Roughead/Boyle(whoever plays closer to goal)
Staker -Roughead/Boyle(whoever plays closer to chf)
Hunter - Jacobs/Smith or Thorp/Dixon depending on if he plays foward or back
Wirrapunda-McGlynn (make the guy accountable or else he will cut us to peices in our foward 50)
Priddis- Mitchell/Lewis/Crawford

BRAUN/HURN- If they arent playing in the centre we have to make them accountable becuase those two are similar to mcglynn/boyle at hawthorn, they are the 2 you forget to man up and give the respect to and they are the ones that can really hurt you.

Look, you are right. I remember watching an Adelaide game a year or two ago and they were getting poleaxed on the scoreboard so they started playing kick to kick to slow things down and regain their composure. For a full six minutes it lasted, and they were applauded for having the brains to stop the run on. They eventually won.

On Friday night I watched the Crows - Richmond game from half time onwards and I challenge anyone to tell me that the Crows were anymore entertaining on that half of footy than Hawks - Saints.

The main thing is that AC and the team puts all this shit away from them because I want his and their mind 100% concentrating on this game of Footy on Saturday - not what tosser journo's are on about, not what tosser committee men and presidents are on about, and thankfully - not what tosser BF Posters are on about.

Does anyone find it ironic that John Worsfold is a fully qualified chemist?

If Jones goes to Buddy then Buddy should take him to the square and tell everyone else to clear out and Buddy will tear him apart.Jones is a good player but if he is isolated against Buddy then he will be carved up.

Then we'd drop Wirrpanda 15m in front of Buddy to cut off his leads. :p
