They have dropped off form but will come back as all young players with talent do. Question of when. Do you think it will be soon, later in the season or even next year?

Hears pin drop. :) I'll get the ball rolling by predicting a resurgance by the younger players in the next 4 weeks.

I think they will come back to the fore but not as much as before. They burst onto the scene when some inspiration and fresh blood was needed. However now that they have been recognised as threats they are getting more tags and pressure put on them so now have to learn a whole new way of playing. They had almost the luxury of being a free player before, now they gotta figure out how to get themselves some free space and shake those tags.

I also think some positional changes have prevented them from shining as much.

I also don't think their form has dropped off as dramatically as people think, it's just that others below them have risen up to the level a bit more.

So in summary I am not sure there is much of a resurgence as such to be had.

That would be round 12 or 13 then?;)

With most young players you have to be slightly patient as not everyone is Judd and able to play at the top level from the word go. All of our young players have shown plenty and hopefully as the season(s) go on their consistancy will improve - its hard to set timelimits, etc as development is not a science (i would say though that all players are a bit ahead of where we expected them too be!)

Exactly correct. Just gotta enjoy the highs and take the lows.

I am sure they will return to normal soon, mabye not as great as they were at the start of the year, but very decent.

To be truthful, i think this season will do them good and they will come out stronger for next season.

Perhaps I should have added a rider that the young blokes have tailed off since the Lappins, Hadleys (don't you just like plurals) have come into the team. Some one else perceptively said that maybe they have taken the foot of the gas once the more experienced players have come in. Or it might even be that they feel intimidated to show their own personalities in the presence of premiership players. Which ever way it goes they need to put in hard each week.

That can work both ways. It should also mean that they are playing on less accomplished opponents as well.

Apart from just general inconsistency from young players, the only sort of theory I have is that our gameplan is breaking down and that everyone suffers as a result, particularly the young players. It seems that we either play well as a team or we play poorly as a team, which suggests that there might be a cog in the gameplan that is breaking down and throwing everything out. I think that cog might be in the ruck. If Charman and Beau aren't in form, the young players might not have the wherewithall to work themselves into the game. If we can get our ruckmen firing, this may flow onto the midfield and in turn the forward line.

Fair point GR. But they need to learn to play to a losing ruck. One of the arts of rover/ruck rover play. The judgement to know where to be when the ball gets tapped is imperitive. If your ruck is losing play to the opposition.

Agree, and this is the sort of thing that I think of when people talk about experience - the ability to adapt to different situations and still perform when things aren't going your way.

It takes time, hopefully our guys can adapt. Still think the missing ingrediant in the centre is a tough phsyical player who can get at the ball even if it doesn't go our way. Vossy was so good at it we probably took him for granted.
