Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure we joined the VFL back in 1908, which would make 2007 our 100th season in the AFL/VFL. Yet I don't think I've heard anything regarding this. Comments?

Maybe we joined after the 1908 season and started playing in 1909, that would explain it but I'm not sure.

I reckon you're spot on!
We played our FIRST VFL game on May 9, 1908 against Melbourne, and won.

Let's hope we don't get a spoon as the celebration trophy...

Astonishing absence of this historical fact, the Tige's 100th season. Until reading this i hard completely overlooked this, although i knew Richmond (And University) joined the VFL in 1908. Imagine if a big play was made of this at the start of the pre-season, it could have galvanised the supporters and playing group, rather than hearing the 2011 call that made all the pre-season talk.
Geelong i think is planning something for next season, as the 150th year of the club (Established 1859). It is amazing that the Richmond board has not acted upon this, unless they are planning big things for next year (1908-2008). Still, the AFL's centenary was in 1996 after it's establishment as the VFL in 1897.
*BUMP*
Whats the go? has anyone rang theclub?
