Malceski's a Victorian; you might be thinking of Ben Mathews instead, who's from country NSW I believe. You can add LRT to the NSW squad too, and Moore to the Victorian brigade.

:thumbsu: I wonder if the AFL ever did a Sate Of Origin wheather the NSW team could convince the AFL to let Kennelly play for us on the basis of that NSW is serious lacking talented players.

No West Australians? Hmmm thats why we were named the Swans, not showing off heritage of the name there....

Under state of origin rules I believe Tadhg Kennelly is eligible to represent NSW
Under state of origin rules I believe Tadhg Kennelly is eligible to represent NSW
That would be great as he would be arguably NSW's best player.

Sam Rowe too. Both were chosen as NSW priority rookies so must have some connection with NSW. IIRC Barlow boarded at school in Victoria even though he was originally from Bega - hence the confusion there. And I believe Rowe played TAC Cup with the Murray Bushrangers, suggesting he comes from the border region (but just on "our" side of the divide).

Sam Rowe is from North Albury. Spock to our other North Alburian; Captain Kirk.
PS grimlock, jumping the gun a bit with Craig Bird. He's not on our list yet. :)

Okay, I'm coming from a RL background here but the State you represent is where you first played your footy. I thought this was the same case with AFL.

If that is the case the Kennelly can play for NSW :thumbsu:

I have to say, that's a pretty good NSW list. I mean, the backline of Bolts, Leo and LRT could take on any forward lind.

Yes it isnt bad but it would be nice to know what players in other teams would be eligible because from our list we are seriously lacking in some areas (infact we would even have players for some area's).

Agree. And 30% have been All Australians, too! :thumbsu:

We also might have 1 All Irish (International Rules) in the NSW team.

I'd love to see Tiger get an AA before he leaves. Hope he goes ballistic for the rest of the season and is at least looked at. :thumbsu:

OK. Your post was ambiguous. The comment about 30% of them being AA was immediately after a comment on the NSW backline. I presumed "they" refered to the three players previously mentioned.
Does NSW have any notable forwards?
If you include ACT
Aaron Hamill (in the past)
James Hird
Cameron Mooney
Justin Koschitske
Brent Staker (OK, I know you said "notable")
Henry Playfair (see Brent Staker)

Im not 100% certain but isnt Hird retiring at the end of the season?

No Davis in there? Surely gets a mention ahead of Staker. :p
Was Wayne Carey from NSW? Although obviously not if the question was meant to be about current players, of course. I know we sometimes take a few of those players down there on the border as our own. Same way we nick movie stars of the Kiwis . :D
Also I think Mooney at Geelong is from NSW if we classify him as a forward.

My mind was on non-Swans. I agree that Davo would get a gig.
And I already have Mooney on the list.
Carey was well and truly NSW - from Paul Kelly country and not particularly close to the border. Certainly the likes of Kozzie and Crawford are "borderline".

Lol. So you did. :o
Im sorry to bring this topic up again but since there might be a possible NSW side in the up and coming state of origin i thought it would be wise. These are the players that i think are eligible to play for the NSW team.

Its not a bad team but it is seriously lacking any powerful fowards. Can anyone think of any other potentially eligible players for the NSW/ACT team?

Bryce Campbell who just made his debut for Adelaide played for the RAMS so I'm assuming he's eligible too.
You can probably add Tadhg Kennelly to that list too since he first played football in NSW!
Hird is from Canberra although he'll probably be retired next year.
Also I think you'll Houlihan hails from VIC.
Also according to http://www.afl.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=208&newsId=44779 you can add
Ben McGlynn
Ray Hall
Chris Hyde

Jacob Surjan is from WA.
Need to try and compile a team and see what it looks like in terms of balance. Here's my go
FB Solomon Barry Fixter
HB Bolton LRT Gilbert
C Crawford Kirk Mathews
HF Davis Koschitske M McVeigh
FF Schneider Mooney Staker
R McIntosh Hayes Cross
int J McVeigh Hawkins Lynch (M) McGlynn
Hmm...you know that when McVeigh is making a SOO team, there's not a huge amount of depth. But don't think there are any other identified players worthy of displacing him. Maybe Vandenberg, but he's hardly played any footy this year so it's hard to know whether he's 'past it' or not.
If Kennelly is deemed to qualify, move Gilbert to the bench in place of McVeigh or Lynch and stick Kennelly in his spot.
I don't think the forward line looks too bad. Mooney and Koschitske in top form are great forwards. Staker adds another tall option, and with Hawkins available to come off the bench and some cleverish smaller forwards in Davis and M McVeigh, there is enough there to worry teams. Lack of a back-up ruckman to McIntosh would be an issue, so Kossie would probably have to play some time on the ball.

Very classy midfield.
Kirk, Cross, Hayes, Crawf, Benny.
Quality.

If the Murray was about 1km further South then NSW would have both Lappins as well. Mathews, Kosi, Crawf are all right on border towns.

Its not a bad team actually. Its not nearly as bad as i thought it would have been. The defence and midfield are as good as any AFL team and the forward line isnt that bad either though is lacking a strong full forward. Does anyone know what players originate from the ACT as they are also eligible to play for the NSW/ACT team.

Not sure that there are many running around at the moment. We've already included Craig Bolton from the ACT. I think Josh Wooden might be another (or he may be from NSW). And of course there's Aaron Hamill...

Wooden is from Lockhart in the Riverina so he's in Liz.McIntosh is out as he's Victorian but played for a NSW club.He played for Vic Country at the U18s.Brisbane's Wayde Mills is from Ballina so he's in as well.Bryce Campbell is from Wagga Wagga so he's another one.

Thanks for the info but I reckon NSW would need to bend the rules and claim McIntosh for themselves or the ruck would be seriously deficient. I know Kossie could play some of the game there but I rate him more as a marking KPP. Without McIntosh we may be forced to use Earl Shaw.
I wouldn't include Mills, Campbell or Wooden ahead of any of those currently in my team - other than maybe Mills for his height, on the bench ahead of Lynch. Lynch hasn't really played enough senior football to really be considered but I just liked the idea of having a speedster goal sneak to come off the bench.
