My messenger pigeon never returned from Mackay (I fear he may have been eaten by some hillbilly) so I have to convey the message directly this week.

No players were marked with the green jersey of shame today so its hard to say who is in/out.

Wood appears to be on his way back in though so expect to see him named this week.

Brown did practically nothing, I think today was just one of those sessions where he is given a rest.

Ash didn't do much either, I expect he will miss.

Clark was doing plenty of goal-kicking. His action is still strange but he was getting them through the middle.

Luke did stationary work but this seems to be a weekly routine.

Browny and Will Hamill were playing with a kids tetherball set at one stage which was quite bizarre. Leppa also had a go.

Chris Johnson looks fit and raring to go.

Shermo also seemed very vocal and fired up, I predict he will play out of his skin for his 50th match.

Thanks for the update BD.

Hey, does anyone know if Sherman would be the youngest Lion to have played 50 games?

Looks great, but he's serving penance still. Will play in the twos for another month I reckon.

Hey, does anyone know if Sherman would be the youngest Lion to have played 50 games?

Luke Power was 18 yrs 86 days on Debut.
Justin Sherman was 18 yrs 78 days give or take a couple on Debut.

Sorry can't find any records for youngest to reach 50 games.

By my calculations Sherman will be 20 years and 127 days this Saturday, Power was 21 years and 111 days when he played his 50th, and Voss was 20 years and 1 day when he played his 50th.

Did anyone listen to Nova this morning and catch the totem tennis challenge with Browny?

The challenge was to see who could hit the most balls (i.e. forehand-backhand-forehand-backhand etc). If this bloke beat Browny he would have won a car.

Browny hit the ball once. :o

Not having a great run at the moment.

Ahhhh, thats what that was all about at training with the tetherball thing. I heard them say something about missing out on a car.

Well Browny wouldn't have won the car, but I don't think Nova were expecting to exactly hand it straight over. They gave the bloke 3 goes to beat Browny's score of one as well.

You would have expected more of a challenge, with Browny being the Warrnambool U10's totem tennis champion. Wonder if they have had his eyes checked?????

Do you have the figures for Akermanis? I know he started young but was in and out a bit in his first couple of years. Nige and Chris Scott also debuted at a young age but I'm not sure they played as regularly as Vossy in their first few years.

Aka, Voss, Nig and Chris Scott don't appear in the records with the Lions books as they debuted pre Merger. Lions info sent out only really has post 1997 now. Will have to track down some old Years books I have from 96 and 97 should have this sought of detail.

By my calculations:

Akermanis - 20 years, 159 days
C. Scott - 19 years, 280 days
Lappin - 20 years, 15 days

Cheers.

So Chris probably holds the record from a "Brisbane" perspective. I wonder if any Fitzroy players were younger. Pretty likely I guess given the length of time Fitzroy has been in the comp, although there were shorter seasons for many years.

Interesting. All the greats at our club broke 50 games very early.

Good signs for Shrermo. :) :thumbsu:

Dinny Ryan won a Brownlow at 19 so he's be some sort of chance.

Wood vs Patto would be good to see. :thumbsu:

Any chance he's too sore to play?? :D

Sorry, carry on.

Selwood had major back surgery in the off-season, that's why it took a while for him to get a game - he had no preseason, especially as he couldn't sit down, etc over that time.
