Does MFC lose money for these two games? or are you guys looked after a bit more compared by MCC compared to the other MCG tennants?
What crowd does MFC require to break even or make a profit at the MCG?
April 22 4 Melbourne v Fremantle 16,654
May 6 6 Melbourne v Port Adelaide 16,266
I was just wondering, because maybe it would be an opportunity for Melbourne to play these games at one of the surburban grounds if the AFL would allow it.
What do others think?

Yep, we lost about $50,000 from each game.
IIRC our break-even mark is 20,000 at the MCG.
Suburban grounds hasn't been a roaring success in the past. All it seems to do is turn even more people off going. Our home game v West Coast at Optus Oval in 2002 was a prime example, we ended up getting only around 8,000.

I don't think there is a need. If the Dees had been flying both those matches would have attracted 30K.

30K is a big call, 25 more likely I think.
I wouldn't mind us playing teams like port and freo somewhere else IF
1. We got more games at the G instead of the dome (home games there kill me)
2. We played them somewhere where we can corner the market and get some benefit, such as Hawthorn in tassy. Thats why I'm not a fan of us playing against Sydney in Canberra, may as well play Birsbane at the gabba.

Considering we haven't beaten the swans in Melbourne since 2001, I'm happy for a change of city. I know this as I have been with my swan supporting mates from 2002 and I haven't seen us win in Melbourne yet with them!!!

If Punt Rd was redeveloped to AFL standards would the MFC play a couple of games there?
Its a long shot but you'd get more then at Princes Park.

The costs to use the stadium might be significantly higher than other similarly-sized grounds because you would have to cover the initial cost to actually redevelop Punt Rd. Also, Punt Rd matches could not be played on the same day as MCG matches (traffic nightmare).
