THE BRISBANE LIONS have stunned the football community by naming 'retired' ex-skipper Michael Voss in their squad to take on Richmond at Telstra Dome on Saturday night.
After confirming that the announcement was definitely not a mistake, a Lions spokesperson stated that "(Voss) is still technically on our playing roster for salary cap reasons. He has been keeping extremely fit in his time away from the game. Leigh Matthews floated the idea of him playing a game or two this season and Michael jumped at the chance."
Voss will train with the team on Friday and come Saturday night is expected to start on the bench and play in 10 minute 'bursts' per quarter as an impact player. Channel 10 management have confirmed that Voss was scheduled to fulfill his regular commentary role this weekend but has been granted leave.

I heard a similar rumour a few weeks back Brown Dog.
The same person, who is always reliable also told me the Lions have approached the AFL seeking the ability to re-sign an ex player, Martin Pike miod season in order for him to line up for the Lions on Jume 9th against the Bulldogs. Expect Mr Pikes return to last only one game, he may join Lynchy on the long term suspended list:eek:

Desparate times call for desparate measures.........
Seriously though, Vossy could still do both re: playing and commentating.
Play 10 mins per quarter, get back up to Channel 10's box quickly and do special comments for the next 10 mins...:p

Will he be captain?
Nah, nowhere near. Since he has been AWOL for so long, he'll have to do a whole bunch of training before he can be considered for selection.
Start at the bottom of the pile for you, Vossy! ;)
am i missing something here ? not named and hasnt trained all year !

BrownDog's jokes are those that invoke a silent chuckle rather than the ROFL.
