Does anyone remember Johnno marking the ball one handed while standing on the head of a Carlton player in 96? I'm positive the Lions were playing in heritage tops (i think it was a heratige round due to it being the centenary year).
The mark was sort of like the Davis mark last night, but much better. Years ago i looked for this pic so i could get it signed, framed and hung with pride, but with no luck.
Does anyone know where I could get a pick of this?

Luke, you may want to try contacting Getty Images, I'm not sure whether they'd have it or not, but it is worth a try. :)

Best mark ever was Lynchy's when he played full back at the G. Massive pack, and he rode it like a surfer riding a tsunami. Caught it in the bread basket, 3 metres off the ground.

I remember Johnno's mark very well as I was on the ground at the time and yes it did win mark of the round. It was the Heritage Round where we were wearing the Maroon strip with the yellow collars. Unfortunately this was the only highlight from the day.
Johnno got on the shoulders of the Carlton player and dragged the ball in from behind him with the one hand and it was absolute speccy material. :thumbsu:
The photo that I'm after is the team shot taken that week by the AFL which included us trainers and it would've been the only photo I had with the team as they stopped including trainers back in the early 90's. I had asked John Birt who was our GM at the time but all of the negatives were lost by the AFL.

What a joke!
You were one of the traininers? Didn't know that. That's pretty cool.:thumbsu:

I haven't seen CJ's mark against Carlton in 1996 but I have pic in a book, which shows Johnson taking a speccie over Shannon Gibson of Hawthorn.

That one against Hawthorn was about Round 1 in 1994 from memory. He actually took two just like that that day but they only got a photo of one. That mark was the second one and it was a carbon copy of the first. I remember it well as I was just on the boundary where it happened and the photographer was around the race at Whitten Oval.
Tommy Kavanagh took the best mark I've ever seen from exactly the same spot and he was literally standing on the head of a Swans ruckmen after getting up on Brett Cook's (our ruckman) shoulders for the ride. Unfortunately it was in the 2nds and I reckon only some of the Lynch Mob were there to see it but fortunately, a Sunday Age photographer happened to be there and got the shot. You used to be able to see the photo of the mark at the AFL Hall of Fame when it was at the G.

Yeah it was round 1 vs hawthorn at whitten oval, but more like 1996 i think. Mick Noonan's first year as coach from memory. Also the first game of AFL that Matthew Primus played. We were really pumped up that day and were all over Hawthorn until the last 15mins of the game. Simon Hawking played well up forward and kicked a couple of big goals from outside 50

I remember Hawks beating us because one of their champions put their hand up and the Dogs beat us because one of their champions put their hand up a week or two later.
Are you sure it was 96? You're probably right and in that case I would've been on the diagonally opposite pocket that year as that was my station in 96.

Yeah i was on the non members wing. 99% sure its 1996.
The next week adelaide beat us at whitten oval when the Jarmans kicked about 15 goals between them too, so it would have to be 96 or D.J would still be at Hawthorn but im happy to be corrected :)
