View Full Version : Shrek the Third
Sorry if there is another thread on this but i couldn't see one anywhere...
Saw it this morning and was impressed, graphics are excellent and the storyline is quite good, i laughed consistently throughout the movie and that is one thing you don't get often.
'Donkey' is always a good laugh and i didn't realise just how many big name celebs are in it.
Julie Andrews
Cameron Diaz
Eddie Murphy
John Cleese
Justin Timberlake
etc...
I give it a 4/5, as good as Shrek 2, although i haven't seen it for soooooo long..
Highly recommend this move!!
(Now i'm sounding like i'm on ebay)

Don't know whether to see it or not. Loved Shrek to bits, it was so hilarious and original, but Shrek 2 i thought was no where near as good. Havent heard many good things about Shrek the third in reviews.

Gave Shrek a 7, Shrek 2 an 8 but this one gets about a 5-6...
It was enjoyable, as were the others, but just didn't have nearly as many laughs as the other ones. By the third movie some of the jokes get stale. I mean its like Austin Powers. On its own the third one had good gags, but they had been done so much already.
Funniest bits were when he was walking behind Artie talking in the 'hip' lingo "oh no he di'nt". And when Donkey and the cat swap bodies "i feel all exposed". Other than that, not great.

Yeah, i guess i liked it as much because i haven't seen the others for ages, i didn't watch them this weekend either on Ch.Nein.
I liked the part where Pinocchio was saying 'Not yes but entirely exactly no'thing like that..it went on for ages..........the whole audience laughed at that part

I gave this one a 7/10, Shrek 2 a 7.5 and Shrek the original a 9.
I liked this one but it was not as funny as the others

I saw it and it was better than i expected. Mind you, what i expected wasn't much, but it more than did it's job. I think this one leaned more towards 'kiddy humor', but it still had alot of cultural references and movie connections for the 'adults' as well.
Best thing about the movie is The Gingerbread Man.. That guy should have his own movie spin-off. Loved when he shit himself after he got surrounded. :D

will take my daughter next week but I'm suprised most people are giving Shrek 2 higher ratings than the first one.But it is one of the few movies I half look forward to taking my 3 and a half year old to.
Shrek 2 I didn't enjoy, so will be giving this one a very wide berth.
I gave Shrek a 9, Shrek 2 a 4 and this one about a 6.
It's a slight improvement on the second, but it's not that great. Visually it's quite impressive and there are some funny jokes, but I find them mostly to be out of routine. It just seemed too forumlaic and contrived, which was my major complaint about the second, but this had a better story line and some funnier jokes. The Sleeping Beauty character was used pretty well.
Not one that I'll be seeing again, I wouldn't think. I'll just stick to the original and the best, which has amazing repeat value - the sequels have very little repeat value in my book.

I haven't seen Shrek 2 for a fair while, but I distinctly remember it being better than Shrek the Third. From memory I rated Shrek 2 above Shrek 1...
Anyway, for me, Shrek the Third focused way too much on irrelevant characters like Artie, Fiona's "group", the magician fellow etc - and not enough on Pinocchio, Ginger Bread Man, Donkey, Puss 'n Boots and the actual characters we want to see.
Loved the scenes already mentioned - especially when Gingerbread Man's flashed before his eyes, and Pinnochio trying not to tell a lie... not as many Donkey/Puss 'n Boots jokes as I would have liked...
5.5-6/10 :o

I didn't think it was as creative or as funny as the previous two. However, it was still a good movie
It was alright, though not as good as the first two. Kinda was getting repetitive.
I reckon Pixar's Ratatouille will kick Shrek's arse. People in the US are already talking it up as a potential "best picture" winner, and I haven't seen one bad review on it so far. Well considering it's directed by Brad Bird, I'm not surprised. The Incredibles was awesome, and some are saying this one tops it. IMO, Pixar > Dreamworks when it comes to animation, and a well developed storyline.
Too bad we have to wait a month.

it was unimaginative and seriously, nothing much happened.
When the gingerbread man is the funniest character (who only appears a couple of times) you know that it's not a great film.

I need to see shrek 2 again, but at this point I enjoyed it more than S2.
that said I wish some of the original support characters got some more air time like gingerbread man and Pinocchio - both were good in the little bits they had

If you rated 1 and 2 so low, why would you even bother going to see 3?
