It seems everyone is eager to stick it to Tambling, Deledio, Roughead and Franklin everytime they put in a stinker, but when has Griffen put a decent game in since that match agaisnt Geelong?
Griffen is a downhill skier. He looks good win the Bulldogs win but never stands up when his side goes down. Tambling, Deledio, Franklin and Lewis have all put in far superior seasons to date. So why does Griffen escape the spotlight? Is it because he is a Bulldog? Is it because he was pick three? Just remember, the Bulldogs overlooked Tambling, Franklin AND Lewis in order to pick up this downhiller.
How have the Bulldogs avoided the spotlight for this glaring error?

yep this thread has been inundated with agreement. Admittedly not many have jumped to his defence either.
Maybe people are just like me and Stripes and really don't care or want to have cracks at the kiddies.

Except there's plenty wanting to have a crack at Deledio, Tambling, Roughead and Franklin... why does Griffen escape when he has shown nothing for 9 games this season...

First game back from injury for Griffen.
What about Adam Cooney?
This bloke flat out refuses to chase or pick up his man.
Prefers to wait out the back and get the glory from soft possesions.

Look at the names mentioned. They're Richmond and Hawthorn players and from what I see around here it's mainly the supporters of those 2 teams giving it to eachother.
All 5 will be great players and the doggies should be no less happy than the other clubs for the player they have.

Speak for yourself, young Stripes loves to have a go at the kiddies, he's just a bit quiet at the minute because his kiddies are currently playing worse :o

He is only a young bloke, but as has been pointed out, others from his draft cop it non stop.
Griffen has been overrated severely. He kept Ablett Jr quiet and got a few possies once. He has ridden on it ever since.
Joel Selwood has better career averages.

Griffen is extremely over rated as is most of their young list eg cooney, ray and minson. veru lucky last year to win the amount of games that they did and it seems this year teams are starting to figure them out. unfortuantly their running style which i find really good to watch can only get you so far in an modern afl season, you really need to adapt to different situations which the doggies clearly can't. will be lucky to finish in the top 8 in my opinion. they can't rely on a 40 year oldB jOhnson for the next couple of eyars

You mean, like your "Buddy Franklin will disappoint the masses" thread?
Or maybe your "When will the Hawks wake up to Roughead?" one?

Tambling and Buddy will be much better players than Griff in the long run, he has very little upside compared to these 2 imo.
Griff was "ready made" as they say, but he should be a tank in a few years so he'll be good in the rough stuff.
Just a player ATM.
Certainly didn't warrant a spot in Sheehan's top 50 b4 preseason.

Goes to show, even a monkey can make a top 50 if u give it a list of names.
Sheehan is a tool.

A Top 50 that includes Ryan Griffen, but not Jimmy Bartel or Gary Ablett Jr
All footy supporters taking short term views as usual.
Hawks win a few games and suddenly the dogs made the biggest mistake by taking Griffen over the Lewis. Give it a break.
Go watch a dogs game once in a while and see with your own eyes that Griffen is injuried. I dont know why the dog's team management continue to play him, they guy can hardly run.
Buddy, Lewis, Deledio and Griffen will all turn out to be stars of their respective clubs. As for Tambling well thats another story.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Griffen's eyes look like they are too close together.

You mean his poor 24 touches, 6 marks, 4 clearance, 2 goals and 4 tackles game against the Blues??
More than happy with that:thumbsu:
PS - Griff has had OP since the start of the season - this has been spoken about in previous threads.
This is in addition to the thigh injury he's had for several weeks.
So yes, his season has been understandably dissapointing.

If he had OP he wouldn't be playing.

Agree, don't worry about Cooney, he's going along just fine at the moment.
And as for Griffen, he is CLEARLY carrying an injury, anyone who does not see this is blind, it's a miracle he can even run out a match with the way he's going, I don't know why Eade keeps playing him...he needs to get over this OP and thigh injury 100%, no point playing him when he can't run.
You say that Tambling, Deledio and Roughead and Franklin get talked about all the time and bagged like crazy..well, that's not Bulldog supporters, it's the opposing side of Hawthorn and Richmond. Get over it all of you, players do get injured and players do lose form, they're all going to be stars of the game, relax.

Exactly! As usual, dales.girl 38 has nailed her point. We don't get into arguments about our drafting like you guys do. Hodge2Franklin, Stripes666 etc. etc. You're the ones starting all the threads about the players dg38 mentioned. Who's better, who should've gone first, who gets more chicks. In five years time we'll all be more than happy with the ensuing hundred games these boys will have played for our clubs and heartily bagging each other over the next wave of draftees playing for our sides!
If i was a dogs supporter I would be more worried about Tom Williams :o
Great call..
The guy has been injured for the best part of 2 years. Look for him to play a few more games late this year, probably not overly well. He is a long term project, if he is still playing at VFL level at this time next year I would say his selection was a blunder. You cant say that at present as the kid hasn't been on the park.

Some people r real idiots, they see a TEENAGER have a bad patch and all of a sudden everyone jumps down his throat, i know its all fun and games here (well mostly is) but some of u people really need to have at least played a game of footy let alone bag all these young stars and know how hard it is for em.......
Griffo is a GUN, yes, with capital letters, where does everyone get off saying he will be a hack??? did he have 2 bad games?? or maybe 3?? big bloody woop, he is a kid, he is injured, he has more exopectations than he did last year and he knows it, all these things play on athletes minds, and its how they overcome each of those points that determines if they will be good.....
did everyone not watch Luke Ball last year after a game when he was struggling to stand up coz of his OP?? so dont come here and say that "if griff had OP he wouldnt be playing" coz a lot of them do, reason unknown but they do.......
these kids WILL be stars of the future, and it will be becoz of them that we will continue to buy memeberships and go watch the games, so just drop it and get over ur personal crap and enjoy wat they have to offer the game......
