Birds may land at MCG
THE AFL could be asked to consider switching venues for Collingwood and Hawthorn's Round 13 clash at Telstra Dome.
While the Magpies and Hawks match is scheduled for the Dome, Kangaroos and Western Bulldogs are set to clash at the MCG.
Both are Sunday games, with the Collingwood clash a 5.10pm start. Kangaroos will kick off at 2.10pm.
There is speculation that the battle between Collingwood and Hawthorn would be a better fit at the MCG as it could be a sellout at Telstra Dome.
Collingwood and Hawthorn are both MCG tenants, while Kangaroos and Bulldogs play their home games at the Dome.
Kangaroos chief executive Rick Aylett said last night the club had not considered a switch of venues for the July 1 game.
"It hasn't even been discussed," Aylett said.

I agree that the game should be switched to the MCG. Obviously somebody screwed up when making the fixture. It is logical to have the game against Collingwood and Hawthorn at the MCG and the Kangaroos against Bulldogs based on the supporter base of those teams.
However I can not see the Kangaroos changing venues without recieving a generous compansation package.

It should be moved, everyone knows that, but there is more chance of kevin bartlett returning to richmond and admitting the rules are fundamentaley flawed than there is of the AFL moving the game
A few years back people were screaming to move the Hawks v bombers game.. Both teams were flying at the time , but the afl didnt even think twice about it..
Collingwood would be making all the moves for us

We'll do it if enough money was offered. But the match is our only MCG game left for the year, and could be Archer's 300th. The club wants to do something special for him, particularly on a ground where he's been so good at... Norm Smith, 2 premierships.
So I don't know whether the switch would need our approval, or the AFL would make the decision.

The AFL has the right to change match venues at its discretion.
Besides, shouldn't such a milestone match be held at one of the Kangaroos' official home grounds, Telstra Dome or Carrara?

Doesn't really matter to us because it is a freebie for us to get in to the game as it is a replacement match.
It wont be a freebie for about 20k of our members, and thereafter you need fox to watch it!!

If 20,000 of our members (let alone Collingwoods) miss out on getting in to the match will not the AFL be guilty of deceptive practice?
