When I heard that Alwyn was drafted by the Bombers, I just assumed he was several years younger than Aaron. But I just found out he is actually 23! What's his story? Why was he drafted late?
I would have thought that given that no-one picked up Aaron (and what a mistake that turned out to be), every recruiter in the country would have been scruitinising Alwyn. So why didn't he nominate for the draft earlier?

Yeah that's right, he's only about 10 months younger than Aaron.
The reason why he wasn't drafted earlier was quite simple. He didn't work hard enough. He was lazy and never had any consistency in his game.

Yep, the youngest was born earlier this year. All boys too I believe. Could be some handy F-S pick ups in the future!

Probably a late developer, he certainly looks like a 18 year old. Lovett was pretty old too when he was drafted or Rookied or whatever 21-22.

he actually came to melbourne before the 06 season to do some training with the dees, we were looking at taking him in the rookie draft, unfortunately he didn't impress enough and we went with andre gianfagna instead, who was cut at the end of last year, he had even almost walked away from the SANFL and was going to head home to the NT before he was given a second chance there, suddenly realised he had to work hard and has paid off, well done to him, he is one of the few non-demon players i get genuinely excited watching, Aaron is still the better footballer though! ;)

He has twins. I remember sitting near them at an sanfl game back in late 2004 at Adelaide Oval.

Yep...an Alwyn Jnr.
Great player to watch and when i heard he was faster than Aaron i thought this guy surely will bring excitement especially the way the game is played today. I really have enjoyed watching him play and i love when the Essendon supporters start a mummor around the ground every time he goes annear the ball. Everytime he goes annear the ball the supporter expect excitement or something to happen
