Sheedy
you coaching/game plan rocked V Sydney. We beat them at their game.

I mentioned in a thread last friday "Tactics" and highlighted some things I have seen and possible outcomes for the Sydney match.

What I saw during the game was sensational coaching, good game plan, perfectly executed by the players.

The whole world knows Sydney is a stoppage team. They lock the game down and back themselves to win the ruck or throw in contest. So what did Sheeds do..... He must have spent all week on those contests and close physical quick marking and ball delivery.

When did we have it won....when Goodes gave away 2 (stupid) free kicks to Hird. That showed he was beaten, both in his head and skill wise on the paddock. One of their gun's showing he couldn't match Hird in the exact area they are expected to win, it was awesome.

We would have won by more (thrashed them on inside50's) had the weather been fine and our forward line performed better without such a slippery ball. Lloyd, Lucas and Laycock all presented well but they just get so many back and slippery conditions made it harder for contested marking contests.

Essendon are playing with alot more confidence this year and love to back themselves to run, carry and deliver the ball.

Will be interesting this week V The Weagles if we employ the same tactics of winning the shutdowns or go full shootout mode.

either way, I'm excited.

The reason we've turned it around is because Sheedy has finally stopped being stubborn and got used the fact that in the modern game you do need to flood if you want to win......im glad he finally came around otherwise it might of cost him his coaching position at the bombers.

If we go into full shootout mode against the Eagles, we will lose because their midfield will probably dominate and because the ball wll be coming in so often, they'll kick more goals and win, so I think we should just stick with the usuall gameplan.
