been covered many times.. pretty sure the rule is you have to be UNDER 21 by jan 1st this year. Mcglynn turned 21 last year year.
Come on, he would have been nominated already

Gibbs got it for round 10. that kid is useless so McGlynn offically, NOT ELIGIBLE

If the rule was you had to be 21 at some point during the season, Mcglynn and Priddis would be battling it out

Well who do we have that could win it this year? Ellis?

We have the best young team - so we should have the best young player.

Maybe we should give Thropedo the rest of the games this year so that he can win it this year instead of in 2008...

The Rising star award is more of a pat on the back for less able, but still fairly tallented players. Most of the time the stars of the game even though young enough to qualify, have played too many games to be in contention.

Guys who have been in the system for a few seasons (like Shaw and Peirce last year) but have struggled to get a game will normally get the votes.

this is a joke. SEN not 1 min ago said he was eligible.

lol

edit: what a bunch of clackerheads, he just said that they are calling the AFL to confirm and he got confused with the age cut off.

Some really good players have won it. My top 3 are
Buckley
Goodes and
Dutchie

with Mitch in 4th spot

Nick Holland would of been the best of them but he broke his shoulder and was never the same since then. Mitch is still playing and looks like hell win a Brownlow medal as well as Buckley and Goods. I also thing that Cousings and Reiwoldt are guns. Theres a lot to them that have also won Brownlows so its looking really good for Mitch to win one.

I'd rather see him win the Norm Smith than some overhyped media award. ;)

The winner must be under the age of 21 at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season (as with the Brownlow Medal, players found guilty of certain offences and fined or reprimanded by the Tribunal remain eligible to win the award).

They have changed it so that McGlynn can't win it, so the media's darling Tom 'Dud' Hawkins will stroll into the title.
