He'll need to have a child that he calls Gary so the legend of superb Gary Abletts can continue.

Yeah, Gary Ablett the III has a nice ring to it. Or Gablett V.3

If the club play their cards right we could have 8 Abletts running around in 30 years!!!!

AFL Round 11 v Adelaide
One of the Best on Ground, broke the lines very well with speed and courage, skills were amazing. Got tackled hard late in the game and was holding his shin, but should be fine

How good was his goal on saturday?
Didn't even look at the sticks once, just threw it onto the boot...

If Jimmy is out for the next few weeks surely Gaz will just keep getting more and more favourite for the Brownlow

The only thing holding him back from a Brownlow is whether the umpires find him appealing. It would seem he and Cornes have daylight between the rest of the pack in the Coaches award.

C'mon G. Keep it up.

What more can you say about the performance of Geelong's favourite son in 2007. Made the transition from opportunist forward and part time midfielder to one of the most dominant midfielders in the game. Thanks to a few home truths from the playing group, Gaz got into peak physical condition, improving his fitness base to the point where he was one of the hardest working mids in the caper. Despite not winning the Brownlow, he was backed into a short priced favourite during the second half of the year and deservedly so. His resume by seasons end, still looked pretty darn good.

Certainly got the rewards for the hard yards he put in preseason last year so don't expect anything less from Gary in 2008.

Preseason 2006/07 and Gary is told by his team mates that he doesn't work hard enough. Instead of being a very good player get yourself super fit and become a great player, be our Judd he was told.

In 2007 Gaz certainly took care of most of that. He stepped into the midfield and picked up a yard or two in the process, making the most of those Ablett fast twitch muscles. Now in 2008 the transition is complete. After another meeting with team mates, this time just with the skipper Tommy H, Chappy and DJ, Gaz was told that he was never going to be Judd like until he came to grips with his Ablett hairline. His father's supreme talents hid one of AFL's great comb overs but if jnr was to try that in this day and age he would've certainly been up against it. Gaz once again took the advice of his team mates and has gone for the clippers. Now the Judd transformation is complete!!

Round 1 and there may already be some brownlow votes. After a preseason that didn't include a lot of game time Gaz showed his class in the Grand Final rematch. Searching runs, classy disposal and his ability to keep his feet in the contest showed up his Power opponents and the beautiful sausage roll that he drilled early in the last said it all. Another big season ahead for number 29!!!

4 rounds in and already Gaz is shortening as Brownlow favourite yet again. An inspiring last quarter set the tone for the cats 42 point demolition of the Swans with the great man racking up 13 touches and bagging 3 goals while setting up a few others just for good measure.

Not many people can pull off being bald with a beard but lil Gaz did it on the bit. Next fashion statement - no hair, no beard, just sideburns - you heard it here first!

Almost 100 supercoach points in the last quarter, and 254 all up for the match. STAR!
