View Full Version : No.17 Shannon Byrnes
I'm not, if we had no injuries then I'd be fine if he wasn't playing.
I'm arguing that he should be in the side ahead of Varcoe and you're making him out to be worse than he is.
Both won't be back in the side unless something happens so why bother arguing it?

It shouldnt play ANY part at all.
Id rather Djerkurra, Gamble, Gardiner, Prismall before Shannon
Big deal he has kicked two! he has also kicked ONLY 18 goals in 42 games! is that something you want in the team. Even Charlie has kicked more. Its not incorrect its fact.
Wojo's knee is fine. We need depth, i agree, we have it. We don't need shannon. And if shannon is just depth, why argue he can be in our 22?
So your saying if you were a fringe player on an afl list and you saw that your supporters constantly bagged the shit out of you and didnt want you in the team or on the list it wouldnt effect you at all?
I'd rather prismall b4 shannon but hes injured atm. Byrnes is ahead of djerkura, gamble adn gardiner.
Your saying hes only kicked 18 goals in 42 games, so your basing your selection on past years. Selection should be based on form and what the player brings to the team. Byrnes is in form atm ad he brings run, pace and carry to the team.
Byrnes is not just depth. He is in our best 22 atm. This week with bartel and rooke back, i think varcoe should go out along with egan and he would be our 22nd player this week.

Charlie Isn't a tall forward mate. People need to learn that. In fact he plays the same role as "the Hack" (formally known as shannon byrnes) Leading forward come forward pocket.
Before last week he hadn't kicked a goal since round 18. ****n great form that.
Charlie isn't a tall forward but he plays as one.
Shannon isn't a forward but he plays as one.
Whats the difference?
And Shannon Byrnes is not a fuken hack!!!!
Both won't be back in the side unless something happens so why bother arguing it?
Because right now when we do have injuries Shannon deserves to be in the side, he's in our best 22 right now (only because of injuries) but if time permits it he might earn a regular spot.
And you continue to make Shannon out to be a really bad player, honestly if he was as bad as you make out then he wouldn't even get a game in the VFL.

Exactly. Open your eyes and your mind Rizzo!

No i wouldn't. Im there to play footy, not to care what the supporters think. I would actually want to stick it up them. In fact im doing "the hack" a favour.
Byrnes isn't ahead of any of the players i mentioned. If all those players were 100% fit i would rather all of them in the team. And let me assure u i hate charlie to.
He is in form by kicking 3 goals since round 17. Great form. heck even Gardiner would be more prolific in his goal scoring.
"The Hack" is not in our 22. Geelong will also bring in prissa for "The Hack". (IMHO).

Shannon is a very good VFL player. No doubt about that. There is a BIG difference betwen VFL and AFL.

Exactly, so why are you saying Charlie should be bought in (obviously based on his VFL form)?

because he KICKS GOALS.

Yaaaawwwnnn. Didn't bother reading through all the waffle, but I got the gist of it.
Prismall is definitely NOT match-fit, and therefore will not come in for Byrnes. That's just you trying to kick Byrnes out of the team for any substitute.
Also, based on the Brisbane game (omg, I'm basing it one one game, what has the world come to?!), Byrnes is superior to Varcoe, and that's all that matters right now.
And yes Ryan, you're doing a good job....

I thought so to teenybopper :p:p:p:p haha sorry i had to, no how much u hate it :D
Actually Prissa is match fit. he had a broken arm and was able to continue working on his fitness, just not playing. He has had 2 games in the VFL to get some form and he is ready to rock.

You little bitch! Watch out, the next time you're napping in your car at uni, you'll get a nice little shock!
Do you think 2 matches in the VFL after not having played in the seniors since Round 5 would make him fit enough to play with them?

Whatever.... The next time a lecture is cancelled, I guess I just won't tell you then! :p
Yeah, I respect your opinion, but I really can't see Bomber bringing Prismall in for the finals. Barring injury, of course. We need him for the VFL finals campaign anyway. :thumbsu:

Really? Where'd that rule come from? I was just saying that it's not unsual for you to be wrong because you obviously can't spell correctly making you look rather, uh, unintelligent.
If you actually replied with something related the the other part of my post (in the VFL) then maybe you'd look a little less oblivious to the subject of this thread?
I guess saying that I don't really care and that I'll just stop replying means I've lost the argument as well? So be it.
I lost! Woohoooo.
Go me.
:D

leave him on the wing and let him run "catch me if you can" and guess what no one is quick enough over 25metres
yeah, coz running down the wing near the boundary and kicking a floater is so dangerous. he does not shank kicks as many say, but the disposal is not too advantage.
and what about his disposal by hand, it is poor.
he did play one decent game last week but that does not justify all this hoopla about how great he is.

no ones saying he is great, we are saying he is a good player that right now deserves to be in the team and that he is not the absolute dud everyone makes him out to be.

I do agree that his chances of playing finals (with the AFL side) are all but gone, but just answer this: if he had've kicked that goal, would people still be whinging as much as they are now.
I very gladly accept that I was wrong. :D
Goood luck sunday shannon... Break a leg!!
