Who do you think have been the top 5 most impressive youngsters from last years draft so far?

Here's what I think:

1. T.Hawkins
2. N.Krakeour
3. J.Selwood
4. R.Petterd
5. M.Brown

Stiff to miss: Gibbs, Houli, Edwards, L.Thomas

Nathan Krakouer more impressive than Joel Selwood and Ricky Petterd? I think not...

Alwyn Davey rates a mention as well.

well if i put petterd above those players i would probably be blamed for being too biased. I chose not to put in Davey because he is 4 years older than the others.

But he was drafted last year....

Funny logic

Mine would be

1.Davey
2.Selwood
3.Hawkins
4.Pettered
5.Krakouer

I'd agree with that order (if you choose to count Davey) but if not then i'd slide Gibbs in as 5th for his consistency thus far.

hawkins struggled against teams that applied just an ounce of pressure. anyone can kick goals against richmond, carlton and melbourne. he didn't get a kick in his other games.

not to mention he was held to zero goals by zac dawson in the vfl

I agree that he hasn't shown a lot against the better opposition, but a lot of that would be to do with the quality of the supply he was getting, which would no doubt be better against the lower sides.

Likewise in the VFL, the quality of his service isn't likely to be as good as at AFL, so it's hard to judge key forwards form at lower levels, and you should be looking moreso at how hard he's working there. Ash Hansen is one that really struggles at WAFL level, but looks a much better player at AFL.

To bad the conditions were horrible for all key forwards that day, tommahawk also played as a leading CHF for the game to.

For me;

1- Davey
2- Selwood
3- Petterd
4- Thomas
5- Hawkins

There are two players who I have seen and thought "gee, really wish we had him". They're not necessarily the most consistently performed, but ones who I just think are going to become special players.

One, not surprisingly, is Hawkins. The other is Ricky Pettard.

I am sure a lot of the others will become very good players. Maybe, long term, they will be better than those two above. But they're the two whose potential has excited me the most.

Despite Melbourne's problems this year, they have three youngish midfielders who overall I think are going to form a very potent force in the future in Pettard, Bate and Jones. I think their midfield future is looking very bright indeed.

This is abviously a very biased comment, but Gibbs' form over the past 10 weeks has been very consistent. Perhaps not in the #1 spot over 10 weeks, but he surely must be somewhere in the top 5.

In no particular order players who have contributed most to their team.

Davey
Edwards
Gibbs
Petterd
Selwood
Thomas

On what I have seen so far & a lot of youngsters haven't played yet Gibbs,Selwood & Hawkins are the standouts.

You don't have to be getting senior games to be going along nicely. Mitch Thorp was the one player I wanted outside of Gibbs, and he's showing signs that his promise will turn into a reality.

From what we've seen, how they look like stacking up when all is said and done:
1. Hawkins
2. Gibbs
3. Selwood
Daylight
4. Petterd
5. Edwards
6. Davey
7. Krakour

biased i know but what about Matty Campbell? number 1 or 2 in tackles in attacking 50 i know not a in the top five but at least a mention (if he had an older superstar brother playing i bet we'd be hearing a lot more about him) and he was a rookie! value!...anyway thats my rant.

Geez I don't know if there is daylight between Petterd and the top 3. So far Petterd looks like he will be a star and looks more comfortable at AFL level than any other recruit. Form what I have seen I like:

1. Hawkins
2. Thorp
3. Selwood
4. Gibbs
5. Houli
6. Petterd

Best performed so far would be Davey, Selwood and Petterd in no particular order clearly. Selwood and Petterd would be the only realistic chances at the Rising Star award from this years draft along with Ryder and Pendlebury from last years draft.

On who would be the greatest in the future? Couldn't fathom a guess. There's still guy's like Gumbleton and Leunberger who will both be special and many more picked after them to debut.
