Apparently, we're going to play him hope for the best. If he breaks down again, season over, he'll have surgury.

Possibly back along with Andrew after the split round, according to Monday's Herald Sun.

It will be great when Natrat can get back on the field again. He has been close to playing for Bendigo but his groin must still be troubling him. According to the Bomber website he is still 1-2 weeks away. :thumbsu:

Or we can keep dicking around and have him pull up sore everytime he tests it in a game , either way he wont get into the seniors. The advice they have been given is to build up again and go for broke .
He wont be playing finals if they dont try and test it anyway.

Well id rather have him fit to play the rest of the year, even if it takes him a couple of weeks longer, than play him and just hope he doesnt break down.

Trouble is everytime he has been close to playing he has felt soreness and has had to stop training. Has happened three times now which is why he has missed 9 weeks. The specialist simply told them to try and push through it and if he doesnt come up they will opperate on it.
It is not a matter of taking a couple of weeks longer . They have tried the softly approach and it hasnt worked. The advise they got was it could go on like it has all year .

I'm no specialist but I can guarantee you that NLM will not play this year.

You can't have that type of injury and expect to push through it.

He'll probably get on the track with Bendigo and brake down.

Surgery is the only way to go. ;)

If they are going to test him out in a game as the make or break game hope its against Freo, if it breaks he can then go carr bashing as he will be missing games through injury. Geez I hate them pr1cks

Well if it still recurring, why doesnt he just have the surgery now. Atleast that way he can be guaranteed a full (maybe even extended) preseason. I dont know what the recovery from surgery would be for something like that, but Id imagine he would miss a majority of the season if he had surgery now.

Because, seeing as we are only half we through the year it is worth seeing if he can come back. even if he does break down again at least we know he wouldn't have made it and he can still have surgery well before the pre-season begins, and maybe have an extended preseason like you suggested. I don't know why you wouldn't try this different approach if the slower one hasn't worked. Its worth a try at any rate

Well if he is sore during training, what real chance does he actually have of playing totally fit. At any rate, we have basically covered for him with the addition of Ryder in defence and McPhee hitting good form, so why aggrevate the injury more than it has to, and just get him right for the future. Maybe if we were a GENUINE premiership chance we could risk it, but we arent, so IMO, there is no point pushing him too hard.

Despite the emergence of Ryder he is still an important player, and could be used to release Paddy up the ground and even into the ruck. We could also use this season to try and develop him in different roles such as on the half forward flank or on the wing. I read that even if he does pull up sore again it probably wont do any further damage to the injury, which will be fixed by the surgery anyway. It seems to be a win win situation - either he can play the rest of the year or he gets his surgery in early well before the preseason. Its better than fluffing around waiting for it to get better without doing anything proactive

Surely it would be frustrating for him though, knowing he is injured, bad enough to stop him from playing, but not bad enough to force surgery. And who is to know that he wont further injure himself by forcing through the pain? For instance he might injure his other leg due to trying to compensate for the inured leg. You just never know. With injuries such as these, where surgery is an option, it is usually the best option.

If he does break down again then we could elevate someone from the rookie list. Possibly Dean Dick, Heath Hocking or Rama.

Pretty sure they will have a cut off point . They have a bit of a window at the moment but if he needs surgery he is able to have it around July/August and still be ready for a full pre season.

Our High Performance team of Quinn et al. have obviously discussed the options and decided that this is the best approach. Similarly with Gumby they have been particularly conservative as young blokes don't usually tear hamstrings. So far this year they have got it right !
