View Full Version : McVeigh- could he get the double?
Seeing that Mark McVeigh's R10 goal will likely be a cantidate for Goal of the Year and that his R3 mark would IMO be the frontrunner for Mark of the Year at the moment do you think that at he end of the year McVeigh could take home both mark and goal of the year? I say that its pretty unlikely, but it would be awesome if he did.

Yeah it would be good. Has someone else done the double? I think someone has but I cant think for the life of me who it was.

Peter Bosustow did it i think in the early 80's. Maybe 1981. McVeigh would be leading mark of the year but as good as the goal was there have been better this year.

McVeigh would certainly be a chance for both, he has done some nice things up forward this year and is playing some of his best footy!!:thumbsu:

I think J. Brown's mark last week is a classic mark and better than McVeigh's. Totally opposite types of marks though, so who knows. His goal certainly was a ripper given the circumstances etc.

You know the if McVeigh did land the double every opposition supporter will get on their high horse saying that he shouldn't have won either because:
A) His hands were "in-the-back" and it should have been a free kick.
B) McPhee was out of bounds and it should have been a throw in.
The mark he is a good chance for but there have been plenty of awesome goals kicked so far, and it's only 10 rounds in!

Agreed. So far his screamers have been great, but he seems to have something extra up his sleeve. He makes it look too easy sometimes which makes it seem less spectacular. It's a matter of time though before he gets one right! :)
I think Jackson has a fair claim to goal of the year, that was a ripper and 100% intentional. Robertson and Alwyn staked their claims also.
