Interesting comments by Voss post game! He was having a bit of a laugh about it but said "every time I looked down the field there were 400 ppl in our forward zone!", he then went on to say how the Doggies had players and supporters camping on the boundary lines, pitching their tents, roasting marshmellows just waiting till the ball came down that way and then they would all rush in to the 50m zone!

He was of course joking, but what was coming thru is how much he dislikes 'flooding' and how frustrating it is.

Very happy to hear from the man himself too that it was only 'cramp' and not a hammy.

frustrating... i hope that none of the other teams take this tactic cause that will be bad for the spread of the game in qld

Flooding is just part of the game, not all of it.

Good teams will over come the flooding, but it will be an unattractive game.

Flooding is a negative move, and any team that employs it as a major game tactic, lacks positive game play.

Its in the rules, its a great ploy and it almost worked for us again.

We don't have the forward strength to kick 20 goals a game, so we do what we have to.

It maybe boring to watch, but i tell you, if we did it every week and walked away with the points, i wouldn't be complaining at all :D

But it won't help fill the coffers if the only people going to watch you are insomniacs on the lookout for something to help put them to sleep. :o

I'm with Mr Ripper on this one.

Flooding is an absolute eyesore. Last nights first quarter was one of the ugliest quarters of football I have seen in a long while.

No wonder nobody wants to sponsor them..

It will if it means we start winning :)

Im sorry, i apologise for our style of play. Maybe next time we can ask you not to let your midfielders dictate the game, you're forwards not to kick all those goals, and as a trade off we'll lay down so you can run all over us. :o

I love your sarcasm - But remember that we outscored you more in the first quarter than the others so maybe your extreme flooding tactics actually did not work.

everyone was saying that they almost won, but really did they??????

I don't think so, there was no point in the game when WB had taken the lead.

If that game was at the gabba, you can garuntee the bbbooooooorrrrrrriiiiiiinnnnnngggggggg chant would have gone up. An absolute eyesore, not good for the game.

No, i don't agree with that. We failed to capitalise on our chances in the forward line, where as you did.

I think there are some problems with flooding, i think its a boring style of game, but at Colonial against teams that would normally post huge scores, it works.

The way i see Brisbane play is like this.

First Quarter - Feel the other team out
Second Quarter - Build moment
Third Quarter - Win the game
Forth Quarter - Kill :D

We didn't allow you to do that, which i was more than happy with. However, we couldn't win, which i guess is the bottom line, so yeah, you could say the flooding tatic didn't win us the game, but it didn't allow you're normal free flowing game.

You play to win, not to make sure everyone in the crowd is entertained.

If you want entertainment, go to the Mardi Gras, if you want tough, balls and all, grit and determination, come to a Bulldogs game :D

BTW - Personally i was entertained until the siren

Correct - It think it was our lowest winning margin since our winning streak began.

But my comments were directed at the first quarter, which from the TV looked really ugly. You only had one behind to show for all the troubles. It appeared to me on TV that the flooding and over the top defensive tactics were not as bad from the 2nd quarter onwards, which was when the doggies got back into the game.

I take your point that if it wins games then why not do it, but don't expect people not to criticize it because it can result in ugly football.

We did the same against Essendon from memory, i just took us a little time to remember how to run in properly, and in all honesty, i believe the first quarter is where you won the game.

I agree it can get ugly sometimes, and i do expect people to criticize it, but it seems to be a good game plan, so i think we should stick with it

Had a chuckle, thought it was funny.

I heard the call on the radio (no TV coverage in Tassie), and Tommy Hafey and John Barnes and the ABC chaps were rooting for the Doggies like I've never heard commentators do. It was a very entertaining call nevertheless.

Tommy didn't even have a whinge about the flood, in fact he was of the opinion that if the Doggies had made fewer unforced errors they might've snatched it.

I was at the game, and there were a few times in the first half where there was nobody in the Bulldogs half of the ground. Sometimes Leppitsch would stay just in their half because there was probably no room for him in the other half of the ground!!!

I had waited so many weeks to see the Lions in Melbourne again, and this was just the most boring game to watch. The Bulldogs would kick the ball 15 metres, then stop the play. Kick 15m, then stop! There was no movement or playing on. It was just plain boredom.

One thing I am suprised about it that Brisbane weren't more prepared for the flood. I really thought we would break them, and they would fade away. Brisbane didn't seem to have a game plan to beat a massive flood, which is what they should have expected. I also think they should have been able to do more to stop the Bulldogs from scoring 12 goals. 14 goals from the Lions was a pretty good effort considering what they were facing in the 50m arc.

Anyone else in here think that the umpires had some money on the Doggis this week???? Approximately 25 free kicks to the Lions 10. Paying 5-1, the Bulldogs would have paid some good money!! Some of the push in the back that they were paying were an absolute joke. And how about Libba. He'd have to be the dirtiest player in the AFL at present.

The Western Bulldogs do nothing to advance the game of AFL and bring in more viewers so who cares if they can't survive in this league. Come in and whinge all you want Bulldog fans, but it's the truth.
