Good story. Good on you Bolts. Another ripper game against West Coast to once again stick it up all your knockers on big footy.

Who said common, I said once again. He did it against the Swans and if he does it against the Eagles it will be once again, is that too difficult to understand.

Can`t work out where to draw the line between being allowed to offer an opinion and being a coward for doing so .... but .... we are not in the position to challenge Mr Robinson on this issue are we ... so who is the coward ?
Having thrust myself onto Triple M talkback more than once and had myself "cut off" whilst they talk over the top of you then not get the right of reply ... i know only to well who the cowards are ;)
Coo Coo Ka Choo Mr Robinson .... purple heart for you :thumbsu:

No what is difficult to understand is how one good game amongst plenty of rubbish ones somehow proves the knockers wrong.

Because the way he is spoken about on here it's a wonder he can put one foot in front of the other let alone kick a football. It's also your opinion about games being rubbish. I don't share your thoughts. Every player has poor games and yes he has low possession games but he rarely plays more than half a game and it's not his role to rack up touches. So once again I hope he sticks it up people like you.
I have said before and spoken to friends and we have never heard crap like on here about Bolton at the football and through many Bomber supporter friends, and we go to the football about 12 to 15 times a year. You all feed off each other lets face it. How about you get a mind of your own because my guess is if you hadn't joined big footy you wouldn't be getting around today bagging him.

Dunno abotu everyone else, but ive been bagging him for years. If players are duds, you tend to bag them. Same went with Lalich, Somerville and Henneman. They were all duds yet they were all gone I, and many others were registered on this site. They were much maligned and it obviously wasnt a case of "feeding off each other", it was just that they were crap. Maybe you need to get off your high horse and realise that not every player in red and black should be treated like royalty.

I honestly think this board is overall very fair and only very rarely gets personal or goes over the top when criticising players. The old BT and BB were/are a lot worse for this IMO.
The coward line is just silly, not to mention hyprocritical.

Didnt look like Longy was suggesting anything about the article in a negative light or Bolton from where Im reading it. If anything, he's voiced the fact that we're entitled to our opinions on a player whom most of us agree wont help us move forward as a club.
Me thinks you interpreted his response to add weight to your ongoing crusade of late. ;)

Hes a dud, he tries his guts out and everyone respects him for that but the plain and simple truth is that he should not be on our list just for effort.

I didn't need big footy for me to form an opinion on Bolton or any other player on the list. I had those long before the internet!
We all have players that we think are capable and other people don't rate. For me its Watson and Dyson. I think they are both good players and want to see us retain and/or get more game time. I have also been guilty in the past of supporting players like Cupido that let us down.
I didn't think Bolton should have been on our list at the end of last season, and unless he has some big games will probably form the same opinion come the end of this season.

Robo raises a good point in the article though Bolton does try his arse off and i think the only reason he attracts such a baging is cause he was pick number 4, however if he were taken at pick 34 would we be more inclined to be more lenient on bolts?

I guess that makes you a coward for your constant disapproval of Kevin Sheedy and the coaching staff.
I guess that makes TD, Bossco and yourself cowards in your critisism of everything I write.
I offer my opinion in a public forum where everyone has the write of reply. As a passsionate supporter of my club I'm actually allowed to make negative comments about the club, its staff and its players. Just like you are.
Mark Robinson admitted he's been critical of Mark Bolton, he then had the cheek to ask him for an interview. Cowardly, maybe not. Hypocritical, absolutely.
Mark Bolton, nor anyone here has the ability to publish their opinion. That doesn't mean we aren't allowed to make it.

Not due to not having a newspaper column but more so due to not putting a name to your work ;)
I can understand where Robo is coming from as internet forums are generally a free for all where people can express all sorts of opinions ,good and bad ,without having to put a real name to it.
In all honesty the problem isnt with people not rating player x and giving some sort of reasonable explination for it . It is for the other 50 to 60 percent whole simply call him a f***ing dud or suggest he should be shot etc etc.

Cant argue there. Some sadistic lunatics out there wishing horrible things, all due to an opinion of a player. Disgraceful!

Coward.
Bolton is a mediocre footballer who was a poor draft selection with such a high pick. He is a good bloke, who can run well for his size and matches up exceptionally well on goodes. He will not play in a premiership side at Essendon and will most likely be delisted at the end of the year.
Can we have a Bolton free site now?

I've never seen someone so full of shit.
If the exact same thread was started by someone else it would have turned out a lot differently.
The fact is this is a forum to voice ones opinions. Mark Robinson wants to call posters cowards for voicing our opinion on a player who plays for the team we are passionate about as well as admitting to doing it himself at various times.

100% correct. Robinson calls us cowards but then admits he has done the same thing in the past. "On supporter websites, he is abused and ridiculed by cowards. I've probably slipped the slipper in too many times myself."
The only reason that Tony Delany disagrees is because the thread was started by Longy. This personal vendetta Tony Delany has with Longy is getting tiresome.
We all no that Bolts was lucky to be picked last week and the only reason he came into consideration was to play on Goodes. Robinson attacks those who feel Bolton should be dropped this week. If Bolton can jump ahead of players pushing for selection because a specific matchup suits him then it isn't unreasonable to suggest that Bolton could be dropped if a match up doesn't suit. But according to Robinson i am being unfair. I wonder if Richard Cole and Campo thought it was fair last week when they had to make way for Bolton.

The only person he is accountable to is the person who pays his pay cheque.

Im sorry, but Im going to continue backing Longy on this one. The only point he took exception to was the fact that we were to be condemned as cowards for voicing an opinion on a player and anyone who uses BigFooty to voice their disproval or dissappointment towards a player, performance or decision ultimately falls under that banner for the penultimate reason of not identifying themselves. I think its petty to attack someone who virtually justified our right on a public forum to have an opinion first and foremost.

One is accountable to oneself, first and foremost. Your nemeses, TD and the boss from Moe will be happy about that.

What Robbo said was right. We are all anonymous cowards. Yes we are entitled to our opinions and sometimes it is a place where supporters frustrations are vented. But honestly, if we bumped into Bolts/Sheeds/Houli/etc buying their morning paper would we front them and tell them you're hopeless/you should be sacked/you'll never be any good? I wouldn't think so.

No, we wouldn't and nor would Mark Robinson or any other jerno.
The local milkbar isn't a viable medium to air your frustrations/opinion.
I've never seen a jerno tell Kevin Sheedy he should be sacked in a press conference, yet I've seen a number of articles published about it. Does that make them cowards too?
The Internet is a medium to share your opinion to a broader range of people that what wouldn't otherwise be the case. Sharing your opinion doesn't make you a coward, it never has.
Mindlessly slagging off an individual is most definately cowardly, but for the best part, that doesn't happen.
The fact is, for the majority of footy fans, we don't have the opportunity to front Mark Bolton, Kevin Sheedy or anyone else, nor do we have a newspaper column. If that opportunity presented itself, I'm sure a lot would offer their opinion. For the time being however, we have to settle for water cooler/pub talk and footy forums.

Would Bolts lay down a severe beating on us all?
I wouldnt go out of my way to let them know but if i was asked i would have no problems saying what i believe. But that point is moot as i wouldnt be asked anyway because who gives a **** what a 27 year old mechanic who plays some country footy in geelong thinks about an AFL footballer?
As long as there are not stupid personal attacks then people are free to rate the players as they wish. If we can't even do that then we may as well close down all forums.

Do you think that there are no repercussions for journalists after they publish a story? I've seen Sheeds question journalists many times about something they have written. The coaches do it all the time. And sharing your opinion anonymously has always been considered cowardly, i'm not having a go at anyone, we all do it.

There are only repercussions if there is an avenue to do so.
Jerno's can put themselves in a position to do so, some do, a lot don't.
I've never once heard a jerno tell Sheedy he should be sacked or that Mark Bolton is no good.

You must have been the little prick who kept falling off his cans under the windsock in 1979, and cried all afternoon that he couldn't see.
Hmmmm....
So you're happy to label a poster.
Yet if I said Mark Bolton shouldn't be on our list, I'm a coward?
I'm happy to wear that tag, but what you've failed to realise is that you're no different/better.
If I'm hiding, if I'm a coward, then so are you and everyone else on here. I'll wear it, will you?
I don't have the option to front Mark Bolton.
There is no medium for me to do that. You're comparing chalk and cheese.
And if you care to read a bit more carefully you will realise I wasn't speaking of Robbo specifically, but jerno's in general. You see, Robbo made a generalisation, so I thought it was only fair I did the same.
You're welcome.
I haven't failed anything- I agreed with Robbo in the first place. You didn't.
Do you need a medium. He's at Windy Hill every week.

Robo does it all the time whenever he shitcans a player, whether its in the press radio, or interview. He doesn't hide behind anonymity. You have the option of putting your name to a slice of the criticism going Boltons way. But you choose not to. So you are hiding, just as Bossco has explained. Is that clear. Thanks in advance.
What is wrong with you? You keep bagging Longy for hiding a behind his user name when he critises Bolton. Do you not realise the irony in you bagging Longy under the user name of Stander. As Longy has said, if he is a coward then every bigfooty member is a coward.

For the sake of expediency- go to post numbers 30 and 52 on this thread.
