Looks great.

I'm getting one.

I wonder what it would look like if the colours were inverted and the FFC logo was replaced with the Lion, and that was used as our clash strip.

That blue looks light enough to differentiate from our "clash opponents" - Carlton, Melbourne, Adelaide, St Kilda.

Wow! That's awesome. I'd be interested to hear some feedback from non Fitzroy supporters of our club. I think the club will sell heaps of these. I've just pre-ordered 2. One to wear to the footy & one to wear to bed.

My wife will be happy will my LIFT in performance. I'll set the mood perfectly...I'll play a video in the background. The 1986 Elimination Final where the Roys won by 1 point should provide the catalyst for a rollicking good time.

The white jersey seems fairly pointless as a clash jumper when this one not only looks a lot better but it also has tradition and serves to recognise Fitzroy within the merger.

How great is it going to be to see this jumper on a footy field again ?, bloody marvellous !.

I'm also going to get one before Round 14, (my old one's just about had it).

I also hope that a similar jumper to this (with the lion instead of the FFC, that used to look similar to Fitzroy's Training Jumper), replaces that urine soaked monstrosity that is our Clash Jumper.

Considering that this years Heritage Round is about the 70's, will the Lions wear gold shorts as well ? (like Fitzroy did in away games for a brief period in the 70's), now THAT would be funky.

The yellow shorts are perfect for an away strip. The inidginous game before the collingwood clash the other week had this and it looked fantastic! I'm all for them!!

They had the jumper to show during the speeches on Saturday night at the after match function at the dome, looks really good, can't wait to see it in action. Perhaps the week they are going to wear it have half the team train in the Fitzroy jumper and half the team in the Brisbane Jumper and see how much of a clash the two really are, and weather it could be used as a clash or change the yellow and red around and use it as a permanent clash.

Even though I was a Bears supporter prior to the merger I always loved Fitzroys jumper, it is so much brighter compared to the other teams.

Intresting that they are using the number 12 in the release of it on the website and it is the week of Aka's return. They also used the number 12 jumper at the Dome on Saturday night at the function to show us?

Does anyone know if the club intends to auction these match worn jumpers?
I bought myself Possums match worn Heritage Round jumper (other Fitzroy version) in 2005 and one of these would look magnificent framed and hung next to my other one in the study!

Great effort Vidman! :thumbsu:

If that was done "properly" (not having a go, I mean using the same template and colouring as the first design), that would be an outstanding clash jumper. Even when I look at that, it wouldn't look that bad if the blue and gold were swapped to avoid the Melbourne and Carlton clashes even more. I would have a go at that one if I knew how to do it.

That way the jumper would consist of our actual colours, there is no need to add things like claw marks or off-centred lions, and we would not clash with anyone.

I always find it hard to judge when a clash might occur but this version looks very Melbourne to me, even with the lighter coloured blue.

I've made gold the base colour here, haven't had time to change the lion to blue apart from the football.

But hey - you can still see the lion even if it's the same colour. :)

That's using the red from the Fiztroy heritage jumper though. If you used the dark maroon we have now, that would look great.

Seriously, the 3 jumpers in this thread are 100% better than last year's gold or this year's white strips.

That looks awesome (apart from the back smudge on the lions arse - or is that my monitor?). I would buy that the moment it came out. The only negative that the club might see is that the jumper might not be distinct enough against the Crows top. I think that is the reason why they chose the current white one. They could also make one like the above with white instead of blue for when we play teams like the crows (maybe the dogs and eagles too).

Dammit I was hoping no one noticed that! I couldnt find a graphic of the lion in entirety, just a front and back shot, so i had to 'sticky tape' them together. OK i was just too lazy to fix it, alas I'm a gainfully employed person so time is money. Ok, we'll stick with the smudge theory ? Yes your monitor must be smudged.:p

Micky Conlan... what a legend!;)

He almost made a man die of fright once.
Mick was lining up for a shot at goal. But being too far out, decided to run straight towards the man on the mark. Instead of baulking, he ran right over the top of him & then on for a goal.

Sorry about the nostalgia but seeing the old Fitzroy jumper.... makes me all misty.

I heard about this episode. Wasn't sure if was folklore or fact. Maybe Brown should try this - may improve his set shot having a player bounce off him; make him feel more at home.

Don't worry, pommies are scared of aussies. As long as i am carrying my Grey Nicholls Double Scoop they stay far away. Nothing better than being here when they lose the Ashes. Once they here the accent they look for cover (however, last year when we lost - i had to stay indoors for a week).

Forgive me for one last piece of nostalgia..

I saw Garry do something that I had never seen before , nor since. He was on the boundary with the ball & nowhere to go. He then did the unthinkable. He deliberately handballed to his oponent. The surprised oponent grabbed the ball & then Garry grabbed him & took the free kick.

This, i have seen. Absolute genius! I wonder why somebody else has not attempted the same. Just as you are about to get nabbed, handball it to them, then lay the tackle. If the player is running at you he won't have enough time to stop, turn and get away.
I think that there once was an occasion where a player was cornered before the boundary line and he intentionally handballed to the foot of the opposing player and it went out on the full and he received the subsequent free kick.

It was fascinating. It wasn't a heavy tackle. Gary gently put one hand on each shoulder, smiled & said "You're nicked!"

Today they would say he didn't have enough time to get rid of the ball. But it was very creative thinking, all in a split second.

That's what we need... thinking outside the box! By the way, I have vague memories of seeing Wilson knock out Jimmy Jess with a fair shirt front... is time playing tricks on me, or did this happen not in my dreams?

Spot on! It happened alright. ( It is on the video "Biffs Bumps & Brawlers")
Please dont think I am big noting, but I was fortunate enough to meet Garry Wilson & mentioned the incident to him. He said that what Don Scott had written about the incident in the newspaper was correct. Jimmy Jess knew Wilson was approaching but ignored / underestimated him thinking he wasn't big enough to be a threat. This resulted in a beatifully executed hip & shoulder completely knocking out the 6'4" ( 193cm) Jess.

Wilson also told me that the folowing year in a practice match, at a ball up Jess ran straight at Wilson giving him (Wilson) a leg injury which prevented him from playing for two or three weeks.
