BCC.. Although they have a strong side this year it seems to be the leadership group that is letting the team down... With DelaHunty Mahon and Leahy having a negative influence on the teams camrardary, they seem to be getting to big for there boots

it is barely evident that Bell is the best player... and Pats are hardly the best team regardless of last nights result... With some big names to still return, college are definately the team to beat

ah you have a point, but drew tyler, grant bell, nick suban, sam clifton etc. are a lot better overall than the likes of bead, billy barnes, and andy leahy...

billy barnes is BCC's big name forward, Cliffo is St Pats, i'd rather cliffo in my team anyday.
cashin is a good player too, but overall patties have too much depth, and you are a fool to think 2 players are going to change a result.

nah i would just say beaten very well by better players on the day.. it was such a close game and could have gone either way and fortunately for st pats it went their way but will the wheels fall off st pats like in previous years? some may think BCC are just as discipline and committed as they have been in past years meaning they could be hard to beat. im just looking at it from a neutral view coming from high school and knowing we wont be up the top

Hey steakbender,
Might get yourself in trouble with those comments.
Why would the Rebels coaching staff need to do that for?
I reakon the Rebels coaching staff would hold all the cards. As they are the one's who talk to the AFL clubs and state selectors and they have no need to suck up to the players.

The St. Pats Line up was far off their best that day with sodid player not playing due to injury nick sculley and drew tyler to name a few key losses the side had out that day.
now im not one to be sticking up the patties boys but the two sides are so evenly matched all over the ground any game between the two schools could go either way we have seen it time and time again over the past 2-3 years. just college buy their players and 95% of the st pats team have attended since year 7

what i am led to believe is that BCC have a solid footballing program. i dont think there are any rules saying that they cant give scholarships out? my opinion is that it is only going to benefit the boys who go there and also the BAS because otherwise St.Pats would win it very easily every year. can you imagine a BAS grand final between St.Pats and Grammar this year or against High... it would be embarrassing. so good on BCC for trying something that IS working and changing what used to be embarrassing for them!

i believe their program is working as they would not have won several grand finals and been in many grand finals over the past years should they have not implemented such a program.. have a think about it pal one game isnt going to determine wether their program is working.. have a look at the bigger picture!

sam clifton has kicked more goals in the bfl in the last 2-3 years than most ppl will kick in there whole careers and has shown on a number of occasions this year he is capable of kicking a bag with hauls of 7 and 5 in the bas/ herald shield... in an ideal world josh caldow will be playing in the ruck as his goalkicking isnt his greatest strength... everytime grant bell has gone forward this year he has kicked 3 or 4 goals in only a few qtrs of footy... as for taite radley if he touched the footy more than a handful of times against spc the first time they played this yr i would be extremely surprised, as for the other bloke i hav no idea who he is and the games i hav seen and played against bcc this year i havnt seen any1 kick 3-4 goals in a game

The other bloke is Luke fisher who has represented the state over the past couple of years.... Its only a couple of weeks before Billy Barnes returns for college and i'm sure he will have an immediate influence.

But the strenth of college is in the Backline... As "Beast" said Vidler gave Caldow a absolute towling and Pete Lynch might look pretty useless but he gets the job done.... not to mention Robertson, Tarca, etc

that statement you just made mate makes you look like a dead set retard mate.. he is st pats captain and best player next to belly and suban, and probably their most important as he is their best key position player.. how can he be a poor player as you say, but hold a key position in the tac cup, and then walk into the ballarat senior side who just beat east point the favourites for the premiership? you are an idiot mate

obviously with a statement like that no one will take any recommendation u ever make seriously again... i hope for ur sake u have played 2 seasons of tac cup cos if u havnt ur in no position to criticise josh, he is one of the best leaders st.pats has seen as he leads by example rather than just words

Eyeing back-to-back Country Cups

07 August 2007

BALLARAT'S top footy school is chasing promotion into the big league with a victory in tomorrow's Herald Sun Country Cup grand final.

Ballarat & Clarendon College's football team will push to join other successful country schools such as Assumption College and Sale Catholic College in the top Melbourne-based Herald Sun Shield competition.

But first the school must triumph over Shepparton's Notre Dame College at TEAC Oval, Port Melbourne, tomorrow to become back-to-back champion school in country Victoria.

Ballarat & Clarendon co-coach Shaune Moloney admitted he was unsure how the school football team would go against Notre Dame.

"It's very hard to say. They won their half of state and we won the west half of the state," Moloney said.

"We haven't played Notre Dame before but we do know they have a few Murray Bushrangers players from the TAC Under-18 Cup competition playing for them. Obviously they're a strong team and they're known as a very good footballing school but in recent years we've done quite well too.

"It's a very prestigious competition and not easy to win, so we're pretty excited about it."

The Ballarat & Clarendon team also has its share of TAC Cup players in North Ballarat Rebels Bede Mahon, Taite Radley and John Delahunty.

It first won the Ballarat district's competition against Ballarat High and Ballarat Grammar, before beating St Josephs in Mildura in the quarter final by about eight goals. Last Wednesday the school won the semi-final against Emmanuel College from Warrnambool by about 10 goals at Mortlake.

patties proved far too good for college in the bas grand final on wednesday... even with stars bell and suban relatively quiet by their standards st.pats were able to win nearly every position... starting at full back with sculley dominating radley, keeping him to less than a handful of touches, jordan harrison also had the better of bill barnes... key forwards clifton and caldow far too strong for lynch and vidler, and who ever said caldow cant kick should feel extremely stupid after the goal he slotted from close to 50 in the 3rd qtr... all in all a thoroughly deserved win for patties

It is clear now that College are just posers and even buying all of there players isnt going to get them a flag
College are one very soft side and when there was a biff they were throwing handbags

for what single reason would college be considered favourites before the game?.. the herald sun cup is the retard cup for schools in victoria who are'nt good enough for the real deal.

Of course they were favourites, they were clearly the better side.... Any team in which Robbie Locket gets a game must be crap..... Its funny u say that about the Herald Sun Cup, because after college won the cup they know advance to the Herald Sun sheild.

mate you havent answered my question and given a descent reason why they would be considered favourites, a title in which you are alone in placing upon college.. and robbie locket kicked 3 goals in a very weak side which played college at college only a few weeks before the grand final, and also played in the BAS side despite being only in year 10. were you in that side mate? and any team which has players like tim coolman and peter lynch must also be very, very crap.. if before the game we are told that peter lynch would hold down a key position in a side then they would instantly be considered a slender chance to come anywhere near winning

Can i just remind u that its school footy ur talking about..... U and all the other Arrogant pricks from Pats are all a bit to passionate...

I think its great that BAS footy isn't so one sided anymore.... There is now another team who can play a competitive game of football against St. Pats....

Its just a shame that every player on the PATS team has a head three times larger than normal as they have finally beatin a good oposition side.

oh yeah here we go mate, you talk it up then once your shut down you make petty excuses like its only school football.. thats hopeless mate

you say st pats have big heads?? first of all who were all the people on here talking it right up before the grand final and after your win during the home and away season, yes it was college kids and i didnt hear any st pats kids talking themselves up, we kept quiet right up until the grand final, and we won and deserve bragging rights, and we havent even bragged! i am the first one who might be considered bragging but all i was saying was questioning why college would be considered favourites, and when you bagged one of our players, i also questioned the quality of two of your players... and your the one who said st pats win was lucky and an upset as college are clear favourites, and considering college as clear favourites without giving any true reason is extremely arrogent.. you just sound like a poor loser to me mate

this is close to the most ignorant comment i have ever read... teams dont win grand finals with players that take cheap shots and dont put there heads over the pill... patties play for the school, college play for themselves with the rare exception of andy leahy who is an actual ballarat boy, i feel bad for the kid having to play with a bunch of guys with there heads in the clouds

Totally agree big fella.... College are obviouly much more successfull with their footy considereing the much smaller amount of students to pick from..... Patties give out Sh#t loads more scholoships that College do anyway
