Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this kid. He has played 4 matches, i havent really sighted him. I always hear "if its wet they'll play Iles," someone give me an idea of where he's at and where he is going? Out of all pies players he is one bloke i no nothing about.

for me he hasnt done enough....hes with davies, richards, egan, cook, lonie, wakelin (retired) and rusling at the moment.....in the bin at the end of the year!

i know i'll get bagged for this reply (being abit harsh) but its my opinion that these players ive named arent good enough to hold a position on our list for the future.

iles probably doesnt have the size to go midfield, or the pace and skill to be a rebounding defender, or a clever sense arounf goal...so what good is he then???

with Cook, ive seen him play afew times and he doesnt really impress me at all, he's abit soft, doesnt chase and gets caught behind his opponent too many times.....looks for the easy kick too often.

Rusling that is more than a bit harsh MM has already said he was one of our main forwards until he got injured he wont be delisted.

Egan and Lonie will not be delisted at worse traded for draft picks/ Ruckmen but not delisted.

The others are harsh but have merit

He plays a little like a young Tarkyn Lockyer with less polish, meaning mainly that he's a similar size to Lockyer, finds the ball well (in defence) but doesn't always use it well or to the right option. Not a big kick either. Although this might be a little harsh 'cos I've really only seen him play about 3 times. Once last season and a couple of times again this year.

i suspect he maybe dropped just like tarkyn should have been?!

With someone like Danny Stanley coming on, spots are going to be real competitive at the end of the year.

At years end, if Wakes is the only one that retires, we have to delist two more - Aside from perhaps Ben Davies, there's no one that I'd delist before Iles.

Guys like Ryan Cook might have less to show, but they have more to offer in the future.

I will stick my neck out here;

Delist:

Iles has nothing to show against his name

Richards won't get any better

Davies is not good enough

I would hold onto Rusling and Cook. Rusling needs more time as his potential is enormous, he's an accurate kick for goal and his quick off the mark, even though he has a turning circle of the titanic. Would be pretty stiff to get the chop after the year he's had.

Ryan Cook was an underage draftee so I wasn't too criticial of his form at this stage last year. He has been a bit more consistent this year but sometimes those old habits creap into his game.

Retire:

Wakelin has slowed down.

cant get rid of richards unless we pick up anotha ruckman, and i personally reckon they will persist with him bcoz he is reasonably young and has AFL experience. Its hard to develop ruckman... so even if they do pick up a ruckman thru the draft they hav to keep richards there while the younger ones are developed.

Like a couple of people I don't know much about young Sam, but to delist him ahead of Guy (@#$'s me) Richards tells me he must be fairly ordinary.

Richards is the equivalent of a second year player, would you delist a 2nd yr ruck with a massive wrap? The only downside of his, is that he is injury prone but liek other posters have said, if we can pick up a better ruck then delist him.
I would tend to agree with isles, out of all the draftees (bar davies) he has shown the least. Having said this if he was on another list he may be spared, its just that we have to many performing young guns at the moment.

I would also retire licuria, i think he may just be passed it. His game on the weekend may signal his return who knows, but i think he just struggles with kicking and getting to contests. I would personally retire lica and keep someone like cook or draft another kid.
I have a feeling he may get a game this week so we will see...

I think if the pies make the finals. Licca will play an invalueble role, especially if we get home finals. This year could be anything for collingwood. and i think if we did make finals Licca could be the difference just in his application and the fact that he along with probs bucks and burns want a premiership more then anyone.

Actually, I'd ditch Richards as well, but we'll need to, given that we might have a rookie promotion or two, as well as potentially wanting a PSD pick.

Scott Meyer is better than Guy Richards. So there's your answer. He's been on the list for 7 years and I wouldn't say his form this year is enough to save him. Enough is enough.

Write him off at your peril. His experience will play a big role for the development of the kids, he has already done well with Scott Pendlebury as he took him aside in the pre-season and lifted his workrate - Pendles is reaping the benefits and would be the clear favourite in the Rising Star stakes at this stage. He hasn't lost any ability to find the ball but he has lost a yard of pace, if he's good enough to hold his spot we can carry him, and nothing has changed since last time he played.

It may be worth considering delisting one of Stanley or Cook and redrafting them as a rookie, if indeed that is possible. I'm sure of heard of other clubs doing something similar. It would free up a senior spot but give them a bit more time, as they were drafted at bottom age.

Brad Gotch on his performance for Williamstown at the weekend:
Sam Iles
Sam was good again. I played him on the wing for the majority of the game, I think he’s a natural backman, but he’s got good fitness and can run with players, and I think he’s just starting to get the gist of how to play that wing position. He had 18 possessions and uses the ball so well. There were a couple of times where we broke out of the middle and fed the handball out wide to him, and his delivery to Ben Reid and to Andrew Williams and those guys was just outstanding.
