And have been told that members MUST go to Ticketmaster with their membership cards and get a "paper ticket" for the game. They are going to confirm with me later this afternoon and I will update you all then. Telstra Dome and The AFL will announce that this is a fully ticketed game.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD ALONE WILL NOT GET YOU INTO THIS GAME.

No, it just means we need to go to a ticketmaster outlet with our memberships and be allocated an assigned seat.

You just pay for the booking fee, or if you want to pay for a better seat you pay the price of the seat. No admission charges.

better than having to pay full price I guess, but still this game shouldnt even be at the detention centre!

I know this will make me sound cheap but...... We should not be expected to pay a booking fee for a match which is effectively a home game for Melbourne members.

Each and every member paid what many would consider a reasonable amount of money for what is supposed to be a definite seat to a pre specified amount of games (depending on what kind of membership you bought). Now a third party wants us to pay for the privilidge of having to go and watch some person behind a desk print "AFL Premiership Season 2007. Collingwood V Hawthorn Telstra Dome" on a rectangle of cardboard?

Like I said, makes me look cheap, but thats effectively what the booking fee gets us.

-Edit-

I imagine Collingwood supporters are in the same boat, and this IS their home game. Even worse deal for them I think.

If only we could get organized a Supporters Union with all fans of AFL football uniting and taking a united stand against that bigoted AFL board headed by the I am the-be-all and end-all Andrew Demetriou who appear to take us for granted with their furtive approach to having fans digging deeper and deeper into their pockets on top of raw membership deals.

At the top of my head, I would say at least one third of the Australian population follow AFL. So if we could only get an organized Union of AFL Fans set up and really pull that dogmatic narrow minded mob into line.

After all, since day dot it has been supporters who started the great game but along the line businessmen have taken the game over to make it one of its own - a big business with a bugger the fans attitude.

People power is a wonderful effective mind blower.

Thankfully they have made this a fully ticketed game otherwise it just becomes chaos.

Supporters Union Didnt Walter Jona (ex Hamer Govt Minister) try and set one up many many years ago?

The same happened with us last year.....most Essendon games are fully ticketed and last year we had a home game vs them at the Td...had to pay the booking fee even though we are members.

For the Level 1 and 2 maybe, but the general seating would be all booking cost.

The AFL will look very stupid if the Dome sells out and the MCG is a third empty.

But they won't care.
